All of these ladies jackets had fit issues, some were too long in the arms, too wide on the shoulders or too baggy in the body

Prom season is nearly over, these are just a few beautiful dresses which have been keeping me busy over the last few months

This milkmaid dress was made from scratch from a lovely viscose twill

The dress is shirred (elastic sewn into the fabric) for shaping

It has elastic along the neckline and shirred cuffs

This stunning blue dress had sleeves which were just too long

They are circle cuffs which means narrow rolled hem is needed which in chiffon can be quite fiddly

This small adjustment has made the dress more practical and wearable

This was a gift for my son for his birthday

He was very specific what he wanted, so I had to mismatch two patterns, the main pattern was the by Wardrobe by me but he wanted a hood which I used the with some tweaking

The fabric was a stunning fur backed check from Guthrie & Ghani which was fantastic quality

I bound all the seams with bias binding and did the welt pockets, which was super fun in this thick fury fabric 🙄🤣

These work trousers were too baggy for my customer and wanted the leg to be tapered in

As they have a pocket on the leg this had to be removed and reattached and they then needed to be re hemmed

These are now more wearable

This hood was designed for go over a helmet, my customer has no need for that now but loved the coat

I was asked to make it smaller, with a lot of head scratching I sorted it

I took out a panel in the middle without distorting the based where it attaches on the coat

It was also too long so a removed the panel at the front and reattached the fur

Its now a normal size hood and perfect for winter walks

This was another lovely commission, this wool plaid fabric was designed by my customers grandfather as a child.

My customer has ended up with the rest of the fabric and asked me create a waist coat for her grand dad as a special gift

It’s lined in a duchess satin in a cream colour, I used brown wooden buttons, and a buckle on the back.

I pattern matched the checks throughout if you know you know how

This dress was too low in the chest, it was also too long

So we chopped off about 2inches to make it the perfect length for my customer and then used the fabric to create a modesty panel on the chest which work really well

The straps were too long also so these were shortened

Another stunning project

This was my customers wedding dress, she asked me to refashion it into a robe for her daughter to wear the morning of her wedding

I just about had enough fabric as I the grainline needed to be considered

I did a belt to match and the lace trim was used to edged the sleeves and the front opening

I’m so happy with the end result likewise the mother of the bride 👰

Another fantastic project

These twin boys have been super successful with their scouting

They have now left beavers and cub and wanted a keepsake for all their badges

The blankets are from the scout website and I made them into ponchos

I the appliqué the badges onto the blanket /ponchos using the same design to make the identical

I loved this project something completely different

Doggy’s need clothing alterations too!!

This dog coat is for a dachshund but it was just too long for he’s front legs and he kept tripping over it

So I re hemmed the front to give him clearance
He even came for a fitting, it was super cute 🥰

It’s definitely coat repair season, changing a zip or stitching up a hole can give your winter coat a new lease of life

I ve definitely been busy with occasional wear over the Christmas period

These are just a few garments I’ve adjusted

So this was a lovely project this baby doll dress wasn’t my customers style but she loved the tulle skirt and the colour

So I removed the strapey bodice, re drafted the skirt to fit at the waist and created a new bodice using a beautiful green velour which I had in my stash

There was plenty of length in the skirt to accommodate the new proportions of the dress and a new invisible zip was inserted

This was a lovely project, my customer had completed these needle point panels and needed me to make them up as cushions

They had a zip insertion, and trim around the edge to complete the look

Apparently we only wear 20% of our wardrobe, you might have a dress which would be perfect for the Xmas do if only it was shorter, or sleeveless etc well most alterations are doable

This dress was too tight on the bust, there’s was a side zip originally which was removed, I then had to get inventive

I opened up the other side seam and inserted a wedge of lace to achieve the correct bust measurement and the inserted the originally zip in the back
