patience. an ode to the warmth and assurance of better days.

bout a year ago, i was a bit of a prick to be around. i was having regular violent outbursts, carrying a lot of anger towards myself and certain people responsible for bu****it in my past. even today, it takes every inch of me pulling in the same direction to follow my values and continue to hold on in my situation. regardless, i started taking it out on those close to me (i still do, i'm sorry.) i lost a lot of friends and even lost my girl at the time 'cause i couldn't get my s**t together. i started skipping uni, locked myself away in my room, and only left the house to show up to our wednesday night writing sessions at navigators, KFM 106.9 / Te Karanga Trust

months on, with whatever spark was left in me, i kept showing up to the community centre on saturdays where Christiaan Toailoa showed me how to flip samples and structure my beats. Chris RL showed me how to mix my s**t, reminded me i could be myself, and use my own voice to harness that pain. i reflect on those times as i was transitioning through change. shortly after, i wrote patience.

to heal from the open wounds of our mistakes, our past, takes time. it takes patience. i've had to teach myself to accept that better days are ahead, but i need to allow time to do it's job.

and while i'm a lot to deal with, trying to figure myself out on this journey, i thank you all for sticking with me thus far despite all the dumb s**t i do.

whatever we go through, we grow through.
