Rob Mason Runs
Run your best life
This is the update I never wanted to write.
As most of you know I’ve been balancing the rehab of an injury with training for the past 8 weeks.
An MRI and sports physician have shown that the injuries I’m carrying are more serious that I thought.
There are lots of big words in the Dr’s report which I can’t pronounce, but ultimately they explain why I have been running in pain for so long and the consequences to my health if I continue.
I am driven to make this run a success so we can raise as much money as possible for the kids in The Burns Unit at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
So for the success of this cause, and against all of my hopes and dreams, we have decided to postpone the run until 2024.
I will spend the next few months working on my recovery with a plan to come back stronger and wiser in 2024.
I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart who has donated to the cause already, and say again that this is a postponement not a cancellation. Your donations are so deeply appreciated and needed.
To say I’m gutted would be an understatement.
As my mate Dan told me this morning. ‘It is never a straight line to success, is it?’
Thanks to all of you for your support and understanding.
With Love and Gratitude, Rob.
My podcast released today is with the incredible Lily Piccolo - this photo shows the absolute passion and courage she used to win GOLD at State Championships recently, with her pilot Jay Gaffey

Packing for next week’s Race Across ACT and I’m grateful for and for their support for us in our goal to raise a bucket load of $ for the kids in The Burns Unit
6 days until we Race Across ACT. Bring it on.
I’m posting this because in the year between these 2 photos, Ive had injuries which meant I couldn’t run for weeks. In the past 10 months I haven’t done hills, speed work or tempo runs because it inflamed these injuries. So if you’re currently injured or not running the way you want to, it can be hard to see a pathway back to where you want to be. Keep working on whatever you can - your consistency - your mindset - your ‘why’ and keep believing. You’ll come back stronger and a more complete runner than before.
Stoked with 2nd place at my hometown half marathon today. Even better to share it with family and friends. Thanks to the Red Cross volunteers and Kiama Running Club for making this event happen. 10 days until Race Across ACT.
Massive thanks to for their support for our upcoming 102km Race Across ACT on June 21st!
I met a baby echidna on my run today who was keen to check out the new Clifton 9s!
I’m so grateful to for supporting our Race Across NSW in September to raise money for the kids in The Burns Unit at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. I’ve been running in Hoka One Ones since I bought my first pair of Bondis for my 2nd in 2011. To have the support from a brand I love means so much to me.
Next stop - Race Across ACT June 21st +
Feeling grateful for all of the support I am receiving as I build towards a Race Across NSW with a warm up Race Across ACT next month.
