One thing I really missed during the pandemic was being able to do in-person events. I know I’m not the only one who felt this way. Working with kids through my organization, Overture with the Arts (OWTA), and being a children’s book author involves a lot of interaction with kids, which I haven’t done in person for almost two years. Well, I’m happy to say that I was finally able to do an in-person event and I loved every minute of it! I was invited back to Indigo Pointe-Claire to do a book signing AND an in-store fundraiser for OWTA. Both events were a success and my heart is so full!! 💛 - Akilah
Something I really love about my job is being able to meet with kids and read them my books. Even though we’re still in the middle of a pandemic, I had the opportunity to do a virtual book reading for a group of elementary school students of my newest book, “Movers, Shakers, History Makers”. It was a lot of fun, and I am looking forward to doing many more "Meet the Author/ Book Readings" in the future! 💛💛
