The annual Veterans Day program is Saturday at the Clay County Courthouse in Brazil. The Jackson Township Band will perform from 10am until 11am. The local American Legion and VFW will feature a special salute to Veterans begining at 11am. As a service to the community, if you cannot attend you can listen to this special Veterans Day program on WAMB The Breeze 1130, 106.9, 99.5 or wambradio.com

The Jackson Township Community Band, directed by Matthew S. Huber, will present a patriotic salute to American veterans, past and present, at 10 a.m. on Veterans' Day Saturday November 11th inside the Clay County Courthouse .

Following the concert, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars will present their annual program at 11 a.m.

The JTCB has performed at the courthouse every since November 11th, 1918 when the Armistice went into effect ending World War 1. Armistice Day became Veterans' Day in 1954.

The concert will include "Tramp" by Fred Jewell, "Legion of Honor" by Jewell, "America, the Beautiful" arranged by Harold Walters, "Shrine of Liberty" by Jewell, "American Legion March" by Charles Parker, "George M. Cohan Patriotic Fantasy" arranged by Walter Ehret and Paul Yoder, "Winning Colors" by Jewell, "Glorious America" by Karl L. King and "Battle Hymn of the Republic" arranged by Walters.

Also, "Freedom City" by King, "The Navy Hymn" arranged by James Ployhar, "Over There!" by George M. Cohan, "Space Force" arranged by John Camp, "Armed Forces Salute" arranged by Bill Moffit, "The Stars and Stripes Forever" by John Philip Sousa and "The Star-Spangled Banner" arranged by Sousa.

The Legion, VFW and JTCB invite one and all to come to this time honored event in recognition of America's veterans.

Thank you all for making our 2023 season one of our best. Thank you to Bekkie and Darlene for taking care of all our music. Thank you to John for setting up the band each week and to Joe for all his help in tearing down each week. Thank you to all our program sponsors. Be sure to support them during the off season. Thank you to Christina and all the Brazil Times staff for printing our weekly program. Thank you to the Mayor Brian Wyndham and the Brazil Park Board for their support. Thank you to all the non-profits who fed us each week at the Park Stand. Thank you to Marv Moon and the Park Crew for keeping our Park looking great. Thank you to all the newspapers, Brazil Radio Stations, Clay County Chamber of Commerce, and TV stations in the Wabash Valley for all the great publicity this season! Thank you to our wonderful loyal audiences each week.

The Brazil Concert Band, directed by Matthew S. Huber, will present Grand Finale 2023 at the special time of 7:30 pm Sunday August 27th, rain or shine, in Forest Park.

The BCB sincerely thanks our wonderful audience, program sponsors, the Brazil Times, the Brazil Park Board. the City of Brazil, the local Terre Haute TV stations, and all area newspapers for their great support throughout the summer.

Director Huber also thanks our fantastic musicians who make the Brazil Concert Band a great musical ensemble.

The finale will showcase "March to Mecca" and "The Screamer" by Fred Jewell, "Bombasto" by Orion Farrar and "The Lambs' March", "Who's Who in Navy Blue", "Mars and Venus", "Naval Reserve March" and "The Stars and Stripes Forever" all by John Philip Sousa.

Also, "Songs of Aloha" arranged by Ralph Ford, "Quicksilver" by BCB tuba player Tory Alsip, "Gershwin" arranged by Robert Bennett, "Vaudeville Favorites" by James Ployhar and "Hymn of Praise" arranged by Philip Gordon.

Members of the BCB who sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" all summer will perform together to begin the Grand Finale.

The Concession Stand will be operated by the Clay County Soccer Club.

The Brazil Concert proudly presents "To Serve And Protect" in recognition of those who serve us in the police, fire and emergency departments throughout the United States.

The concert is set for 8 pm Sunday August 20th in Forest Park rain or shine.

The band will also honor members who have performed fifty years with the BCB. They include David Brinson, James Chesterson, James Deal, Jay Hendrix, Darla Scherb and Darlene Shepard.

Director Matthew S. Huber, now in his 55th year, will present these musicians with special plaques commemorating their dedication to the Brazil Concert Band.

The program includes "Supreme Triumph" by Fred Jewell, "The Klaxon" and "Lassus Trombone" both by Henry Fillmore, "Firehouse Rag" by Stephen Kent Goodman and "In Old Portugal" by Karl L. King.

Also, "Sons of the Brave" by Thomas Bidgood, "The Chimes of Liberty" by Edwin Franko Goldman, "Officer of the Day" by Robert Browne Hall, "The Black Horse Troop" by John Philip Sousa and "The Andy Griffith Show" arranged by Warren Jones.

The concession stand will be operated by the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. The Brazil Concert Band's Grand Finale of 2023 will be Sunday August 27th at the special time of 7:30 p.m. Follow us on Facebook or visit our website brazilconcertband.org for more information.

The Brazil Concert Band, directed by Matthew S. Huber, proudly presents A Concert Kaleidoscope on Sunday, August 13th, at 8 pm in Forest Park rain or shine.

From the pen of Karl L. King, the BCB will perform his "The Octopus and the Mermaid", featuring our tubas Tory Alsip and Joe Ervin plus "The Melody Shop" March.

The trombones will ride high on "Trombrero" by Frank Cofield and one of John Philip Sousa's waltzes will royally float across the ocean in "La Reine De La Mer" (The Queen of the Sea).

Scott Joplin's ragtime piece, "The Entertainer" made a comeback in 1973 with the movie "The Sting" and the cavalry song "Garry Owen" will gallop across Forest Park.

A trio of classic Sousa marches to be heard this evening includes "Atlantic City Pageant" , "Sound Off", and "A Century of Progress".

The finale, "Instant Concert" by Hoosier Harold L. Walters, contains thirty well known themes ranging from classics to American folk tunes all contained within three minutes and ten seconds.

Park Stand will be operated by Christmas in the Park.

Gooten Tag!

The Brazil Concert Band, under the direction of Herr von Huber, will present Forest Park German Oktoberfest this Sunday August 6th at the Bandshell or, in case of rain, in the Pavilion.

The annual German concert will begin with our German Polka Band at 7:15 pm with the full BCB performing at 8 pm.

The BCB will perform traditional German music, many which were brought to America by immigrants.

Scheduled are "Alte Kameraden", by Carl Teike, "Knallbonbons", by Heinz Egidius and Hans Kolditz, "Light Cavalry Overture" by Franz von Suppe and arranged by Henry Fillmore, "Hoch Heidecksburg" by Rudolf Herzer and "Under One Flag" by Franz von Blon.

Also, "Liechtensteiner Polka, arranged by Alfred Reed, "Flag of Victory" also by von Blon, "Hartenberger-Polka", by Karel Vacek, "Hogan's Heroes March" by Jerry Fielding and "Beer Barrel Polka" arranged by George Briegel.

The Park Stand will be operated by the First Christian Church with German Food.

The Brazil Concert Band performs every Sunday through the end of August.

The Brazil Concert Band, Matthew S. Huber, director, will present BCB Goes Disney! on Sunday, July 30th, 8 pm in Forest Park rain or shine.

The BCB had the honor of performing in Disney's EPCOT Center in the year 2000.

This week's concert will feature "The Magic of Disneyland" arranged by Jerry Brubaker with eight all time Disney classics including "Mickey Mouse March" and "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah".

Favorites will be heard in "Walt Disney Band Showcase" arranged by Floyd Werle, "Highlights from Mary Poppins" arranged by Alfred Reed, "Aladdin" arranged by Paul Jennings and "Star Wars Medley" by John Williams, arranged by John Tatgenhorst.

Also, "Raiders March" also by Williams, arranged by Lew Davison, and "Selections from Moana" with "Where You Are", "How Far I'll Go", "You're Welcome" and "We Know the Way" in a setting by Jay Bocook.

Marches of the week are "Eagle Squadron" by Kenneth Alford, "Staunch and True" by Carl Teike and "Sir Henry March" by Karl L. King.

The Concession Stand will be operated by the Girl Scouts with pulled chicken.

The Jackson Township Community Band will perform at the Indiana State Fair on Thursday August 3rd, 6:30 pm, at the Indiana Arts Building.

Launch Academy will be serving tonight (SUNDAY) at the band concert. We start serving at 5:30. Jodi Pell Lohrman from Honey Beestro has donated 80 delicious desserts. I am so greatful to her. We are also serving beef nachos with all the fixings. Popsicles for the kids. Nachos and cheese and those yummy yummy desserts. Hope to see you tonight at the band concert in the park. We will be in the concessions stand and could sure use your support. God bless!
