I am super excited to announce that my application to become an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker was successful. What this means is I can now offer Medicare and Private Health rebates for my counselling services. This makes what I offer more affordable, allowing me to help more people. 🧠 I was fascinated to learn about the work Dr Joe Dispenza is doing with the power of the mind, body, spirit connection. In his research, and work, which includes 1 week meditation retreats for thousands of people, he has not only been witnessing incredible health and wellbeing outcomes, but he has also been measuring them with scans and blood tests and finding that what the body experiences as it’s truth comes from what the mind is thinking, feeling and experiencing at the time.

I very much believe we achieve emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing by allowing space for our emotions to inform us and tell us their story, rather than suppress them 📖
They always find a way to come out whether it’s conscious, subconsciously or unconsciously. They can trigger us, with the possibility of leading to destruction in our relationships with others and ourselves, and our physical and mental health 💔

I’d like to share a story with you to honour and bring awareness to the grief journey, the cancer journey and the real life journey we are all on, connected in our humanity. This story just happens to be mine…
I lost my mum exactly three years ago to cancer while I was pregnant with my first child.
This is a significant time in a woman’s life, when if you are close with your mum, you feel you need them most again.
Becoming a mum also gave me an extra appreciation and understanding of her more than ever before. I wish I could share this experience with her alive.
I found wearing my mother’s clothes during the end of my pregnancy helped me feel close to her. This is one of her dresses, I’m wearing in this photo.
I miss and grieve my mum everyday, not just for my loss, but also for her’s in this human life form.
My mother lives on deep in my heart through my daughter and I.
I very much see my mum’s beautiful inner qualities in my daughter and feel them inspiring my journey.
Her warmth; love of music, dance, animals, and all people; her immense empathy, her intelligence and even her cheekiness and great sense of humour.
Most of all her passion for life!
ALWAYS living life to the full!
My mum continued to swim in the ocean and power walk beachside everyday, every season until she couldn’t walk anymore.
My grandmother’s approach to life was the same (her mother) and so it passes on through the generations and that’s how we live on…
and no matter how tragic and sad life can be I hold onto this incredible human spirit in all of us!!
If you are grieving, GRIEVE and don’t set it any time limits! It’s so important for us to feel what we need to feel and connect in REAL, deep and meaningful ways!
We are all connected, sharing this human experience of life… so I really believe that in a compassionate, kind and understanding world we all heal together!
This is my hope for the entire world going through human struggles right now, including yours!

There can be “problem stories” from past or present that we wish to change, in which we acknowledge, explore, heal and process to create our “preferred story”. This can be done through Narrative Therapy 🗝💗
Our preferred story creates a healthy present and future and lays down the foundations, values, hopes and dreams we have for our children and theirs 📝✨
Narrative therapy is an ideology and approach that has shown to be helpful for many, including children, teenagers and across cultures🌀
For these reasons and more, it’s one of the modalities I have trained extensively in because it resonates as a respectful and empowering therapy, in honouring all parts of our story, who we are, and how we want to be 🤲

This year has been extra challenging for most! Loss is happening on a grand scale and close to home 🌏 🏡 💔
A big part of this is Ambiguous Loss, which is loss that is complex and ongoing. In this limbo of grief and loss there is no definitive end or resolution. The outcome remains unknown in time and nature. 🤍

Ambiguous loss within your family…
Are you missing family for the following reasons:
💔Your family are overseas or in other states and you cannot travel to be with them or they cannot travel to be with you.
💔Close family members (your children, parents or siblings) have become estranged. This can be heartbreaking ongoing loss.
💔Someone in your family has gone missing and you don’t know what happened to them.
💔Someone in your family is not well, mentally and/or physically and you are grieving the changes this has caused.
Ambiguous loss is heavy, ongoing and complex. It’s a type of loss I specialise in and feel passionate to support.
I will continue to share the various forms of ambiguous loss that can be experienced.
