🎉🎉New Note🎉🎉This Note evaluates the insulation of the immigration system, specifically the Board of Immigration Appeals, from Article III review. It argues that this lack of review violates parents’ basic right to the care, custody, and control of their children because parents are effectively unable to challenge the decisions made by executive officers. Further, this Note further argues that this regime does not correctly balance the damage that the system does to the integrity of families across the country because the system does not advance or protect any national security interest. To stop the current trend, this Note proposes that judicial recognition of the fundamental right to family unity, in the context of mixed-status families, would be a first step in enabling federal courts to preserve the constitutionality of our immigration system.
🎉🎉NEW NOTE🎉🎉This Note presents the shareholder proposal as an alternative path to raising wages in light of failed political action. This Note analyzes the best approach to crafting a shareholder proposal that will prompt an effective increase in the minimum wages paid to workers. It evaluates the barriers to success and concludes that the right team of actors can overcome the barriers to raise the minimum wages paid to workers at large corporations through shareholder proposals.
