What is Kapeng Barako?

Barako Coffee (Kapeng Barako) or known as Batangas Coffee, is a coffee variety grown in Batangas and Cavite, Philippines. It belongs to the coffee species Coffea liberica that came from Liberia and has become naturalized here in our country. Barako came from the Spanish word varraco, which means “stud” and is related with the image of masculinity because of its strong flavor and fragrance.
