Shotton Colts 5-3 Hetton Lyons
Bit of crazy game this one, from the kick off We started quick and within a minute we had a couple of good chances a great save from the keeper and then we hit the bar but from the ball hitting the bar Hetton went down our end and jumped on a mistake at the back and we were 1-0 down but we hit back instantly with a good attack down the right and Charlie Mazunder firing in a great stike from a tight angle 1-1, it was end to end both keepers making good saves we had 2 great efforts brilliantly saved then a clash of knees between Jonny and theor defender stopped the game for a bit, on the restart Liam hit a great low shot that flew into the bottom corner to put us in the lead, Kaden made it 3-1 I missed the goal while seeing to Jonny but he was the quickest to react in the box after a good save from the keeper.
We controlled large parts of the 2nd half half getting an early goal when Liam broke into the box and was tripped but he managed to get up and get a shot away that found its way in shortly after Billy brought the ball down in the box and placed the ball into the top corner with his left foot putting us 5-1 up and looking in total control, but Hetton went all out to get back into the game we sat deeper and left big gaps between the midfield and defence, and we conceded 2 late goals but held on to get a good win
Man of the match went to Charlie Mazunder he got a great goal and was a constant threat all game leading the line brilliantly

Shotton Colts 6-3 Roker Rangers

Tough game for the lads today missing 6 good players so we had to ask lads to cover other positions, it was difficult for us from the start unable to get on the ball and under pressure it was like this near enough all game with the defence working hard to protect our goal and Izak making save after save, we always dangerous going forward with the lads we have in midfield and up front and we broke on the counter attack with a great through ball and Charlie Mazunder beating the keeper to the ball and despite been tripped he managed to stay on his feet and score with a great finish from a difficult angle then again with another good counter attack and through ball Charlie battled through the defence and round the keeper again to score another good goal, we were looking at getting to half time 2-0 but Roker scored with a couple minutes left
Second half we were under pressure again from the start until the final whistle but with every one of our lads battling their hearts out to protect our lead we did create more chances on the counter again and we won a corner which bounced about before Liam smashed it goalwards and Lewis lavery got a touch on it to make it 3-1, again Roker were attacking us and having chance after chance with some unbelievable saves from Izak again and some last ditch defending before Roker got one back making it 3-2 they kept going at us hitting the barr a couple times and the post but some good pressing from our forwards forced the keeper into a mistake leaving an open goal for Lewis to score his 2nd of the game before Jonny was the first to react in the box after a good save from the keeper and he placed it into the top corner 5-2, More great defending from the whole team and saves from Izak keeping us in front but they got a 3rd when a free kick hit the post and Izak collided with the post managed to get up and make a save but they scored the rebound. 5 minutes to go Jonny again reacted quickly in the box to stick the ball in the bottom corner wrapping the game up 6-3.
Unbelievable effort from the lads today against a very good Roker side who on another day could have easily had double figures but the defending and goalkeeping from us today was excellent.

Man of the match went to Jack he had a great game in the centre of defence some cracking tackles, blocks and important headers

Again it was a fantastic effort from everyone of the lads today and all deserve a good pat on the back 👏

Shotton Colts 5-1 Washington Tigers

First home game of the season new strips for the lads sponsored by CJ Johnston Transport for the 5th season now thanks again
A tougher game than the scoreline suggests, a good Washington side will definitely feel they deserved something out of the game
It was end to end from start to finish, we went a goal down early on, we started creating a few chances and nearly equalised when Charlie Rowney with an excellent lob over the keeper but the keeper managed to just get back and get his fingers to it. Then Charlie got his goal breaking through the middle of the defence and a calm finish to level up the game, it was ling before we went 2-1 up when Charlie Mazunder worked his way in from the left and slotted it into the corner and just before half time Izak playing the forward and Charlie Mazunder up against 2 defenders twice his size he left them standing with a great turn and made a great run in on goal and scored with a great finish to make it 3-1.
Second half we knew Washington were going to come out and attack us and we were a little bit all over the place for 10 minutes with Izak stopping everything that was chucked at him, we soaked up the pressure then we settled back in and started to play some good football again creating plenty chances some good saves from the Washington keeper and a couple of missed chances until Liam was played in and he burst away from the defence and smashed it into the top corner to make it more comfortable for us and Charlie Rowney got his second of the game firing in a low shot into the bottom corner to give us a brilliant 5-1 win.
So many top performances from the lads today between the outfield players it could have gone to 5 or 6 different lads today but Izak was superb in goal with so many important saves at crucial times in the game a few worldy saves as well as an assist so we'll deserved Man of the match for Izak

Easington 6-1 Shotton Colts

Frustrating result tonight, we started the game really well playing some good football creating some very chances thought we took the lead when Charley Rowney went in on goal but a fantastic save from the keeper tipping onto the post then another 2 great chances which we didn't take then we got caught out with a through ball putting us 1-0 down then just before half time Easington scored again when we totally switched off and didn't deal with a ball in the box and we we were 2-0 down couldn't really fault the lads we had played some good football but found our selves behind
2nd half we took a while to get going again but then Charlie Mazunder scored a brilliant goal from outside the box with his left foot into the top corner we stepped it up and again started to play good football and were pushing forward for an equaliser but we couldn't create any clear chances and struggled in the last third Easington scored a 3rd and it totally deflated the lads and Easington punished us everytime they came forward in the last 20 minutes scoring another 3 goals. Disappointing end of the game after we played well for most of it.
Individually I can't fault them but we need to work on defending as a team and stop leaking so many soft goals plenty games to go and must bounce back on Saturday

Gateshead 3-3 Shotton Colts

First game of the season away to a very good Gateshead side, it was absolutely roasting hard work for the lads today with Gateshead having a lot of the ball but our lads were well organised and kept disciplined all game we did have plenty very good chances in the first half and got the lead when Charlie burst through the defence again and fired it in to the net we had to hold on and the lads battled brilliantly Izak excellent in goal as usual and the defence were solid been well protected by the midfield, we got half time and made a few changes the plan was to weather the early storm what was expected but within a couple of minutes of the restart we switched off and Gateshead levelled. We had to defend a lot sitting deeper as the half was going on, we made some more changes and we instantly got back in front when good pressing force a mistake and Kaden laid Billy off who smashed the ball into the roof of the net, we had a water break and pretty much straight after we conceded another sloppy goal but then Charlie Rowney who was a thorn in the side of the Gateshead defence all game battled through and a calm finish to put us 3-2 up, we looked like we were going to hold on to the lead until a deflected shot fell perfectly to their striker who finished making it 3-3 with a minute to go, we went straight on the attack with Charlie Mazunder in on goal the ref decided it was a good time to blow for full time which was frustrating but a draw is a good result today against a really strong good footballing team!
Man of the match went to Billy he was absolutely brilliant all game broke up their attacks winning his tackles, scoring a goal organising the lads well deserved man of the match from Billy.

Shotton Colts 3-5 Seaton Carew
We started very well today forst 15 minutes playing some great football getting an early goal after Josh smashed a header into the top corner and we had a few other great chances but some amazing saves from the keeper and good defending keeping it at 1-0 then we were caught out with 4 poor goals to concede from us we found ourselves 4-1 down! Last 10 minutes of the 2nd half we started to play again and Charlie Mazunder scoring a penalty, 2nd half we started playing well again it was more open and we were creating some brilliant chances but couldn't find our way past one of the best keepers I've seen he was absolutely fantastic! We also hit the crossbar 4 times before Josh eventually pulled another back but we immediately switched off and conceded again, we got a penalty late on but again the keeper making another great save! Overall I was over the moon with the quality of our football and performance was as good as I've seen but just need to be tighter defensively, well done to Seaton Carew very good team and a great game today 👏⚽️ Charlie Mazunder man of the match he was absolutely brilliant all game never stopped grafting and he was unplayable all game

Lovely weather for a game today 🌧🌧🌧 good quick start to the game going 1-0 up with Jack heading in at the back post, we looked good going forward creating more chances but then gave 2 sloppy goals away to be 2-1 down, we got back to playing some good football and got control of the game Charlie Rowney scoring a quick hatrick with 3 brilliant goals all well worked between the team and finished off with the usual class from Charlie in front of goal 4-3 at half time, we had a change around at half time different formation and we were very good in the 2nd half great football played controlling the pace of the game, looked solid at the back and brilliant going forward Charlie scoring his 4th Lewis Laidler and Josh scoring from long range to wrap the game up!
Good to get them playing and a good run out for them ⚽️

Another good run out for Shotton Colts U15s away at Hetton, again we missing quite quite few players through holidays, injury and illness but the lads stepped up into unfamiliar positions and gave it a good go, first half was fairly even nothing in it at all going in 0-0 at half time, we changed it round going back to 4-4-2 which suited us better and we managed to get the ball down and play some decent football Liam putting us 1-0 up then shortly after Lewis Laidler making it 2-0 and that's how it finished. Over the moon to keep a clean sheet against a good quick Hetton team who were in the game right until the end. Well done to both teams for a good pre season match

First pre season game of the season absolutely roasting for 70 minutes then lashing down for the last 10 we had no subs so hard work for the lads today but they were brilliant , we started slow going 1-0 down inside the first minute but we eventually woke up about 10 minutes into the game and Liam equalising just before the first drinks break, then we kicked on from there getting to half time 4-1 up and the 2nd half we started where we left off looking like scoring every time we attacked, some great goals scored today and a brilliant run out for the lads always nice to win and score some goals, well done to all 11 of the lads today

Whickham 2-1 Shotton Colts

Very unlucky today we started the game strong going 1-0 up through a brilliant strike from Charlie Rowney and we had a few chances to build on that but a couple good saves from the keeper and some missed chances kept the score at 1-0 then we got caught out off a long ball through and a great save from Izak but they followed it up to make it 1-1 Whickham kept getting chances with the ball over the top but we went in at half time 1-1 there was nothing really to change from our lads we were dominating the possession and creating chances so we just kept going at it in the 2nd half again having plenty chances to go back into the lead but we failed to take them and we conceded when we failed to clear a corner going 2-1 down we kept going for it and had more great opportunities to score but a couple brilliant saves from their keeper, defenders blocking shots and missed chances we couldn't find the equaliser, can't fault the lads effort and the way the played today probably the best we played since the first game of the season but we couldn't get the result today we'll done to Whickham.

Prudhoe 3-1 Shotton

Cup game today up at Prudhoe, a poor first half cost us the game today first minute we had a good chance off a corner but they cleared the ball and went up the other end and won a corner which they scored from 1-0 down in the 2nd minute and we never recovered from that we gave another corner away and again a free header making it 2-0 we struggled to get in behind their defence until a good ball and some good forward play from the Charlie's up front and Charlie Rowney with a lovely finish got us back into the game but straight away we gave another corner away and another free header we went 3-1 down
2nd half we changed the formation and it suited us better we were a better in the 2nd half but still struggled to find a way through, we had 2 good chances towards the end but it wasn't our day today we played poor, we got things wrong with the formation and Prudhoe deserved the win

Easington 1-0 Shotton Colts

Another tough game against a very good Easington side, we knew Easington would be putting us under pressure a lot today so we had to stay strong and organised in defence and midfield and try play on the counter, first half was exactly that we done well to contain them first half all the lads battled hard keeping it at 0-0 2nd half started the same but we started creating more chances and the game opened up end to end we had some great chances to take the lead and Izak and the defence keeping us level, I was hoping we would have held on or nicked a late winner but instead we switched off for a 2nd and conceded. Great game to watch gutted we couldn't hold on for a point but the lads grafted and left everything on the pitch which was great to see! Man of the match was another tough one some good performances, Leo playing his first game back for us was brilliant and slotted straight back in great saves by Izak, all defenders having a great game midfield worked their socks off and the forwards causing problems but it went to Matthew again for his 3rd man of the match out the last 4 games

Shotton Colts 0-4 Durham

Another frustrating game where we were down to the bare bones again only 1 sub but Carter picking up a nasty injury forcing him off after 5 minutes hopefully he is OK 🤞
I missed the first 20 minutes after seeing to Carter but I was told it was fairly even and our lads were giving it a good go but as the half went on we sat deeper and were punished with 3 quick goals 2 great strikes from Durham, half time I got the lads in tried to lift their heads and decided we would go all out to try getting a couple of goals, we gave it a good go but still couldn't find a way through, we had 2 decent chances but it wasn't our day and Durham scored a 4th on the counter attack no arguments with the final score Durham deserved it. We gave it everything we had but missing 6 players then losing another to injury early on we couldn't compete today unfortunately, but I'm as proud as ever with the lads that grafted all game today they can hold their heads high!

Man of the match was Charlie Mazunder up front on his own in the first half it was hard work for him but he kept going all game and deserved a goal after dribbling his way past a couple defenders but his shot going just wide, Charlie was praised off the Durham coach about his performance too

South Shields 10-2 Shotton Colts

Tough one today up against the league leaders, we were down to the bare bones again Jack had to go in goal and we were already 3 defenders missing so we had a makeshift defence first 25 minutes we held our own defended well Jack making some good saves South Shields did take the lead but we hit straight back with a good header from Charlie Rowney but we let 3 late goals in before half time and this knocked the lads confidence, 2nd half South Shields upped their game and they went 8-1 up we stopped playing all together the lads were knackered and trying their best having to play in unfamiliar positions, we eventually started again and had a good 10 minute spell where Jack Johnson scored a lovely goal some good passing then Jack with great footwork in the box and a cracking finish we had a couple more chances but then got caught out again and let another 2 goals in before the end. No complaints about the lads that played today they did themselves proud grafting hard against a very good team. Man of the match going to Matthew again this weekend difficult game but he won plenty tackles and headers

Shotton Colts 2-2 Chester United

Feared the worst today with having 5 good players missing then Jack pulling out in the warm up so leaving us with only 1 sub and we had to mix up the defence and midfield to suit the players we had, it was fairly even first 10 minutes then Chester took the lead through a great long range strike into the top corner, we settled into the game and started putting pressure on Chester but we couldn't find the final pass or get a shot away until just before half time when a long ball was well flicked on by Charlie Mazunder playing in Charlie Rowney who smashed the ball in to make it 1-1
2nd half we were forced into another change with Liam struggling with an injury so we had our backs to wall and had to play on the counter attack after some good pressure from our forwards Charlie Mazunder cut out a back pass rounded the keeper and a great finish to put us 2-1 up, we defended well and didn't look like conceding and still looked dangerous on the counter attack, the last few seconds we gave a free kick away we defended the first ball in well then the 2nd cross come in which the lad was offside, his shot was blocked and it fell to another player who was offside and he hit it in off his mate who was also offside absolutely gutted for the lads today fairly even game but to lose the 3 points so late on in that manner was hard to take but mistakes happen so we have to take it on the chin and go again next week
Man of the match was Matthew since signing back for us as an outfield player he is improving every game and today in a makeshift defence he was brilliant won every tackle and header and blocking shots great game

Shotton Colts 2-5 Washington Tigers
Fast start from us today Lewis Laidler causing problems and getting a goal in the first couple minutes, within minutes it was 1-1 sloppy play from us and a good finish that seemed to knock us we couldn't keep hold of the ball and were 2nd to everything and giving another 2 poor goals away, half time 3-1 down Izak making some good saves to keep the score down
2nd half we had a short spell where we attacked and caused a few problems and Charlie Mazunder getting us back into it with a lovely finish 3-2 we kept pushing for an equaliser and had a couple of good opportunities but then again we switched off gave the ball away and conceded a 4th that killed us off and Washington scored a good 5th goal late on. We were poor today and Washington deserved the win we have to dust ourselves down and bounce back next week!

County Cup day
Shincliffe 1-3 Shotton Colts

We were missing 6 important players from today including Izak so Matthew offered to go in goal and he had a cracking game standing in thanks Matthew
We started strong dominating the play creating chances early on before Jonny hit a rocket from distance flying into the top corner! We played some great football at times creating plenty and we got our 2nd through a well worked goal and Lewis Laidler with a good finish we went into half time 2-0 up but we should have been out of sight but Shincliffe defended well and keeper making some good saves, 2nd half we started where we left off but we struggled to find the net the box was crammed with all their players and we couldn't get through until Owen headed in the 3rd after a good cross from Harry, we stopped playing for a 10 minute spell and gave a daft goal away and nearly conceding a 2nd but the lads sorted themselves out and took control of the game again seeing out the 3-1 win
Man of the match was a close one today some good performances, Lewis Laidler was brilliant but I gave it to Andrei he has settled into our team well and was very good today winning tackles and playing some good football out from the back, helping set up the 2nd goal

Shotton Colts 3-0 Willington
Great win for our lads today against a very good Willington side, Willington put us under pressure from the start and didn't let up all game our lads did great to keep a clean sheet some brilliant defending and Izak as reliable as ever when called upon
It was backs to the wall for us and struggled to get on the ball and play our game so when we did have a spell of attacking we had to make it count and with the 2 Charlie's up front they will always cause trouble for defenders and we got a goal through some good pressure and Charlie Rowney battling his way through to put us 1-0 up then shortly after Charlie got his 2nd again good pressure put on the defence and Charlie keeping his head went around the keeper to put us 2 up
2nd half we knew Willington would step it up and they kept at us but the lads put a shift in to protect our goal, we counter attacked in the 2nd half looking dangerous going forward and had a couple chances before a well worked move and good finish by Lewis Laidler put us 3-0 up! Man of the match could have went to a few today there was some good performances but Billy was great today calm on the ball and when in midfield had us organised and protected the defence well then he dropped into defence and was great in there too

Roker Rangers 3-3 Shotton Colts
Another very tough game against a good side, we found ourselves 2-0 down very early on it took us a while to get started and Roker had all the possession but 20 minutes into the game we eventually started to play and creating a few chances, eventually we got a breakthrough when Charlie Rowney drove into the box and was taken out he dusted himself off and stuck the penalty away giving us a boost and finishing the half the stronger team
2nd half we weathered the early storm and started creating a few more chances on the counter and Charlie Mazunder scored a well taken goal to make it 2-2 then with 10 minutes left we took the lead through another good finish this time it was Lewis Laidler scoring, we had to defend for the last 10 minutes as Roker pushed for an equaliser which they got in the last couple minutes both teams battled for a late winner and some great defending and great save from Izak keeping it at 3-3 before we broke away and scored what we thought was the winner Jonny with a good finish but the ref blew for offside dodgy decision from what i saw as it looked like their defender that knocked the ball back into Jonnys path but sometimes you get them sometimes you don't, overall I was happy to come away with a point against a very good side who put us under pressure all game
