Today we'll be introducing our Programs Team - Michelle, Ethel, and Denis 🐝

"The Urban Beekeeping Fellowship is a program I wish I had participated in during the summer months when I was home from college. This experience can help cultivate a deeper understanding of the environment surrounding us and encourage our youth to seek green jobs. Bee-U is the next step for those looking to find themselves and understand the importance of nature, all while exploring fun workshops/classes centralized around our favorite little pollinators, Bees!" - Denis

"What I enjoy most about working at Bee-U is connecting with others on topics that need more attention. This year, the program has expanded environmental advocacy and awareness. Having a safe space to discuss these topics is something I look forward to every Sunday." -Ethel

" I love working at Bee-U because it allows me to give back to the community. There's no better feeling than bringing people together to work towards a better tomorrow!" -Michelle

β€œI think Bee-U is a fantastic initiative to get students out of their comfort zone and give them the opportunity to support and engage with environmental activism efforts! Teaching the younger generations of the importance of not only bees but the values of leadership, teamwork and responsibility are the reasons I admire this organization and it’s efforts!”

Bee bearding is cool phenomenon where bees gather at the entrance of hive to keep it cool, especially during summertime heat waves! Let’s ensure our fuzzy friends stay comfortable during the warmer months 🐝

During week two of the program, we brought back a crowd favorite our cooking class! Thank you to our guest chef Taylor for facilitating this session for us again this Summer. Today we'll be introducing our Director of Development, Tavion Williams 🐝

"I was a beneficiary of a variety of exposures as a child and the impact has brought me here. Becoming an educator, I was able to contribute to such exposures, which gave me perspective. to our 2023 UBF cohort 2 graduation. We can't wait for our 2024 cohorts to begin!

Happy World Bee Day! 🐝 The holiday coincides with the birthday of Anton Janőa who in the 18th century pioneered modern beekeeping techniques in Slovenia. In 2017, the UN made it a national day to raise awareness of the importance of pollinators, the threats they face, and their contribution to sustainable development.

🐝 Buzzing Bee U news coming your way 🐝

Bee University NYC is proud to announce it's newest initiative: The Maker Park Pollinator Garden! Pollinators support healthy ecosystems that clean the air, stabilize soils, protect from severe weather, and support other wildlife. However, over the years, the pollinator population has significantly declined because of man-made climate change, habitat loss, and increased usage of pesticides in the environment.

In collaboration with Maker Space NYC, this new initiative will allow participating community members to advance their horticulturalist skills as well as create a space for our favorite pollinator friends to sustain themselves & us. Please consider donating to support our pollinator garden this Wold Bee Day (May 20, 2024) in efforts to sustain our community and environment.
