At the start of the day, Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat. However, India’s Mohammad Siraj stole the show by taking six wickets, with an impressive four-wicket haul coming in a single over. He conceded only 21 runs in his spell. The match faced a 40-minute delay due to rain, and the trouble for Sri Lanka began when Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Kusal Perera in the first over of the game.

Following the early wicket, Mohammad Siraj continued to wreak havoc, completing his five-wicket haul within his first three overs. Besides Siraj’s remarkable performance, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah also contributed with three and one wickets, respectively. Sri Lanka was eventually bowled out for just 50 runs in 15.2 overs.

Only two Sri Lankan batsmen managed to reach double figures, with Dushan Hemantha scoring an unbeaten 13 runs and Kusal Mendis adding another 17 runs. This total of 50 runs is the lowest ever recorded in the history of the Asia Cup (ODI), surpassing the previous record held by Bangladesh, who scored 87 runs against Pakistan in 2000.

In response, India easily achieved the 51-run target, completing the chase in just 6.1 overs with all ten wickets intact. India’s opening batsmen, Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill, played crucial roles, contributing 23 and 27 runs, respectively.
