Battle Bots Camp was so much better because of these 4 helpers! They made it so much more fun with their silly antics! 😂 The guys helped to keep the wait time for assistance to a minimum which allowed the kids to accomplish and learn so much more! I’m so thankful and treated them to lunch complete with big boy concrete mixers! 🤩

Today was our last day of battle bots camp! 🏕️ We had a smashing battle bot competition and a few “trophies” were given out too! The trophies were VRC tri balls from last season’s competition! 🎉 We had a “Robo Saurus” make an appearance as well! We took the robots apart and had some treats too! It was a great week! 💥 Thank you to all of the parents who helped us clean up and organize the pieces! You rock! 🥳

Gearing up for our battle bot competition and the last day of camp! 🏕️ 🥳

We continued building, programming, strategizing and did some practice runs as well! I showed them some other battle bot robot ideas and we removed 2 more tiles from the field! It was a fun day that flew by! Day 4 is in the books!

Day 3: Today we continued building our robots and I encouraged the kids to challenge themselves by adding an arm or a catapult mechanism to improve their success in battle (and to add some more learning too 😉). We took out 2 tiles from the field for the bots to fall into. Tomorrow I will take out 2 more to make our runs more challenging! This is such a great group of kids and they are so fun to work with! 🎉 Can you spot the 2 older helpers turned campers in the group? 😂

Today we learned about gear ratios and made our own gear ratios. We learned about some examples of when you want high torque low speed or high speed low torque. We talked about some situations in which you need one or the other. The students received directions to build an arm that they could add onto their robots if they desired. We took a brain break and some of us practiced juggling and had a little competition. We ended our time with practicing driving and competing. Day 2 was a success! 😊

The first day of the Battle Bots Robotics Camp was a success! The kids got so much further than I anticipated which was awesome! They also weren’t interested in taking an outdoor break! 😳😂

Robotics Sign Ups are coming this weekend! We had to move it out since our website is not up and running! So sorry for the delay. We are working a lot on the website to make it easy! This year there will be multiple questions that students will need to answer as well! So excited!

Today in STEAM Class, we started programming our robots! We made an oval around some cones and are trying to make a figure 8 as well! The time flew by way too fast! 🤩

Today in Steam Class we completed 3 driving challenges. Then, we completed the same driving challenges blindfolded with our teammates telling us where to go! The reason that we did this was to simulate that our robots are blind and we literally have to tell them how to do everything when we are programming! Then, I showed them the program that they would get to experiment with over the week (virtual autonomous) so they can be ready for programming their robots next week! 🥳

The greatest gift that we could ever receive is the gift of Jesus Christ! God sent Him to this earth to show us the way to God. It is through His death and resurrection that He paid the price for our sin! May we not take for granted His gift of great suffering - spiritually, emotionally and physically to cover our sin so we can be clothed in righteousness before God!

We finally had a game of tug of war! We used a high torque low speed gear ratio! Now we will move on to high speed low torque. In 3 weeks we will retrofit our robot for some other surprise challenges! Stay tuned! ☺️
