The 15th International Pre-Conference Workshop, hosted by the Pakistan Psychological Association (PPA), explores 'The Role of Virtual Realities in Phobias.' Dr. Saqib Maraj Aslam Bajwa, Associate Professor/Executive Director at PIMH, serves as Resource Person, with Ms. Aqila Unbreen, PIMH's Principal Clinical Psychologist, as Moderator.

The Punjab Institute of Mental Health's (PIMH) dedicated faculty is driving excellence in academia and research, pioneering innovative subspecialties in Psychiatry and aiming to launch a groundbreaking Second Fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry by July 2025, elevating mental health education.
Punjab Institute of Mental Health (PIMH) - Academic Council Meeting
The Academic Council convened its meeting on November 6, 2024, under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Ali Burhan Mustafa. The Council made several pivotal decisions to advance academic standards and enhance the quality of mental health education at PIMH. Key resolutions included:
1. Approval and Review of Implementation: The Council approved the minutes of the First Academic Council Meeting and reviewed the implementation of its resolutions.
2. Standardization of Academic and Teaching Programs: The Council endorsed the standardization of academic and teaching programs for postgraduate residents through the Postgraduate Medical Education Committee (PGMEC).
3. Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD): The Quality Assurance Committee (QAC) will oversee the initiation of CME/CPD points for academic activities to promote ongoing professional development.
4. Standardization of History Proforma: The IT Committee will standardize the history proforma to improve documentation and consistency in patient care records.
5. Strengthening Academic Collaborations: The Council approved steps to initiate collaborations and extend invitations to esteemed institutions, including the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), the University of Health Sciences (UHS), the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK), and the Royal College of Psychiatrists (Ireland), to foster academic partnerships and strengthen educational programs.
6. Review of Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship Program: The Council reviewed the ongoing development of the Second Fellowship Program in Forensic Psychiatry.
7. Capacity Building Initiatives: A quality protocol was discussed to invite retired eminent mental health professionals for capacity-building initiatives, aimed at bridging the generational and expertise gap in the mental health field.
These decisions reflect the Academic Council’s commitment to enhancing PIMH’s academic programs and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and international collaboration in mental health education.
A Group of 30 PROBATIONARY CIVIL SERVICES OFFICERS (52-COMMON) visited Punjab Institute of Mental Health Lahore on 2nd November, Saturday 2024. The officers were welcomed and given briefing by Executive Director PIMH Dr Saqib Bajwa. They visited different departments of PIMH like Addiction Treatment Center, Unit D, kitchen and Male Rehabilitation unit.
ACADEMIC COUNCIL MEETING PIMH:
Today, the Punjab Institute of Mental Health (PIMH) Lahore convened an Academic Council Meeting, culminating in key resolutions. These included establishing the Postgraduate Medical Education Committee (PGMEC) and Research Advisory Board, evaluating postgraduate programs for faculty and residents, and fortifying academic faculty and Psychiatry residents. The Principal Clinical Psychologist and two Psychiatry residents were unanimously appointed as co-opted Academic Council members.

First Academic Council Meeting, PIMH:
The inaugural Academic Council meeting of the Punjab Institute of Mental Health (PIMH), Lahore, was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ali Burhan Mustafa, Chairman of the Academic Council, and Dr. Saqib Maraj Aslam Bajwa, Secretary of the Academic Council. The meeting was attended by Prof. Ali Madeeh Hashmi along with the entire academic faculty of PIMH.
During the meeting, several key decisions were made to advance the institute’s academic and research agenda, with a clear focus on achieving future milestones. To enhance the quality of education and promote faculty development, various committees were formed. Additionally, the council resolved to initiate efforts in developing subspecialties within Psychiatry and to expand academic collaborations.
In the history of PIMH, for the first time ever, the dream of chairman BOM becoming true, as the department of community psychiatry is being established and has started its work on 23-10-24 in Punjab Institute of Mental Health Lahore. The process of first ever data of patients being refrred to Comunity Psychiatry is being entered by hand picked hard working staff of the department.
Smog Awareness Training & Walk
An informative training session and awareness walk to combat air pollution and promote clean air in our community was arranged In Punjab Institute of Mental Health Lahore on 17.10.24.
The training session included information about understanding smog and its health impacts, Identifying pollution sources and reduction strategies and Best practices for air quality monitoring. Educational material was distributed among the participants.

"Continous Medical Education "
Prof Dr Altaf Qadir Khan delivered his lecture on the Topic of "Comparison between DSM 5 and ICD- 11". Executive Director PIMH Dr. Saqib Bajwa along with teaching faculty also joined the lecture. Medical officers, PGRs and clinical psychologists attended this informative session.
Executive Director Dr Saqib Miraaj Bajwa( Assistant Professor) conducted detailed meetings with all the Administrative Staff , Teaching Faculty , HODs/ Consultants and Section Incharges of PIMH to know about the issues and disscussed solutions to improve patient care.
Independence Day 2024 celebrations at Punjab Institute of Mental Health Lahore.
Executive Director PIMH Dr. Farakh Abdullah along with Administrative staff (AMSs, DMSs, section Incharges etc.) Teaching Faculty, Doctors, Clinical Psychologists, pharmacists, Nursing Superintendent, Nursing staff and Paramedical staff participated in the flag hoisting ceremony at PIMH followed by the National Anthem. All participants prayed to Allah Almighty for the prosperity and progress of our beloved homeland PAKISTAN. As part of Plantation drive by CM Punjab plants were Planted by the Executive Director and her team. Patients from Male and Female rehabilitation units presented National Songs. The Executive Director addressed the participants and admired the efforts of the team for organising flag hoisting ceremoney.
PUNJAB INSTITUTE OF MENTAL HEALTH LAHORE WISHES YOU "HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY"
Fire Mock Drill was organized on 22nd July 2024 Monday at Punjab Institute of Mental Health Lahore in collaboration of Rescue 1122.
In order to assure security, safety and educate staff, fire mock drill was organized adhering to the protocols. The Rescue staff explained how to extinguish the fire, rescue the affectees and provided the clinic aid.
Dr. Farakh Abdullah Executive Director PIMH along with her Administrative Team , Rescue Officers, Doctors , team of Disaster management and Healthcare Professionals also participated in the session. Live demonstration was also conducted by the Trainers. The session was concluded by the Executive Director PIMH .
