Today, the world lost one of its most selfless and hard working souls🙏 Dennis Taylor, a community organizer and founder of various non-profits in East New York, passed away unexpectedly during a routine colonoscopy. Dennis was a well known community advocate in East New York, who constantly worked towards a better future for his community. He was a mentor to our founder, Mr.Johnson, and was an avid supporter of Empowering Youth Towards Excellence. When first starting this non-profit, Mr.Johnson was provided office space and introduced to community members by Dennis. His impact and influence will not be soon forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dennis Taylor's family and loved ones.

It is with great sadness that EYTE shares the news of one our very own, Isaiah S. aka Black Jesus. Please pray for me, Cyrus and his family. This is a really hard one for me. Cyrus and I met Isaiah when he was in the eighth grade. We were working with him on his basketball skills and with getting him ready for college. We were so proud of him. However even after he came home he was still trying to find himself. Cyrus and I worked with him during that time too. He said people were telling him you are sounding more and more like Mr. Johnson. LMBO. He would laugh at me when I would tell him that I was going to the gym. One day he shared that he found his passion. It was fashion. He would do fashion in front of and behind the camera. He was a legend in the making. Cyrus and I let him know that we were so proud of him. He also started his own cleaning business.
Isaiah please SLEEP IN PEACE!!! WE LOVE YOU ❤❤everyone please pray🙏🙏🙏 for his family.

EYTE WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH HONOREE: Ms. Sandra McLean. Today I spent most of the day thinking about and reflecting on the life of one of my mentors Ms. Sandra McLean. She was a educator in Brownsville who inspired many of her students, a community activist, a mother, a grandmother, a wife, a sister and a mentor to many. She has recently moved on with our ancestors. She has been a great and positive influence in my life. EYTE wants to do our upcoming projects in the spirit of Ms. McLean.

Celebrate Black History!!! EYTE donated the book 📗 "100 Most Important African Americans" written by high school junior Agatha Edwards to the ladies of the girls high school basketball team at Spring Creek Educational Campus 🏫 in East New York. The author's 🖋📖 dad TJ says his daughter wants students to read this and realize the obstacles each of the people overcame and know that they can overcome any obstacle they are going through and still do great things. Young people should read between 15 and 20 minutes each day. Thank you to Miriam Robinson the Executive Director of Brownsville Heritage House for donating the books on behalf of author Agatha Edward's. Thank you to EYTE basketball coach Saquan who picked up the books for Mr. Johnson. It takes a team to do this work.
