Handmade pottery by Layne Ober I’ve been working in clay for most of my life. My first exposure to clay was in a high school art class.
It’s been a love affair ever since. Success in that class led me to studying art in college. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from University of Houston specializing in ceramics. Clay speaks to me in a variety of ways. My concepts in art have always drawn me to 3 dimensional objects. I want to walk around it, hold it in my hands, and use it in my everyday life. After a busy travel summer, I'm back on tap for the Art Squared show on Saturday, Sept 7. Usually on the second Saturday, this month we were bumped to the first Saturday. Come by and visit me on the courthouse square in San Marcos from 9-4. Hope to see you there!
These are just a few favorites from my recent England trip. The Victoria & Albert museum has the most extensive collection - truly could spend an entire day just on the ceramics floor!

I just finished this tribute to bees titled 'Bee Line'. The term "bee lining" refers to the behavior of the honey bees when, after completely filling their honey crop with food or water, will fly directly back to their hive in a straight line. This is origin of the phrase “make a bee line.”

I've spent the last few weeks building a barrel kiln. It was a process! I used the plans from Alternative Kilns & Firing Techniques - Randy Brodnax' plan. I fired it yesterday and just need to clean and finish the pieces. So excited!!
