My visit to Mr. Masatoshi Asari in Hokkaido, Japan, was aired by NHK, the Japanese television network. I handed my new book ‘The Martyr and the Red Kimono’ to him. Mr. Asari is the world’s foremost cherry creator and is one of the three protagonists of the book. The last two photos show Ben Jones, Oxford University’s Arboretum curator, who accompanied me.

Now in Toyama—-The coronation bear that I gave last year to a botanist from Toyama’s Botanic Gardens greeted me at the entrance of the Gardens.
My visit to Mr. Asari in Nanae-cho, Hokkaido, was reported in the Hokkaido Shimbun Press today. I visited his home to give him my latest book ‘The Martyr and the Red Kimono’ where he is one of the main protagonists. On the right of Asari is Ben Jones, the curator of Oxford University’s arboretum.
I gave my new book ‘The Martyr and the Red Kimono’ to Mr. Asari at his home in Nanae-cho, Hokkaido. Mr. Asari is one of the three protagonists of the book.
He has been sending messages of world peace through his cherry tree creations.
I was very happy to be able to write about his life and give him the book personally.

We call this flower ‘月見草(Tsukmisou)’, literally meaning ‘Moon Flower’. This photo was taken at 9pm tonight.
