🚩⚠️ Recognizing the Signs of Op**te and Substance Abuse in Adolescents ⚠️🚩

Awareness is often the first step in helping our loved ones who may be struggling. Today, we at Steadfast Psychiatry want to share some warning signs of op**te and substance abuse among adolescents. Please remember, these are potential indicators and not definite proof.

1️⃣ Sudden Changes in Behavior: Abrupt shifts in mood, attitude, or habits may be signs. This might include disinterest in previously enjoyed activities, depression, euphoria, or a new social group.

2️⃣ Drop in Academic Performance: A significant or unexplained decline in grades or school involvement, or unexplained absences can be a warning sign.

3️⃣ Change in Appearance/Health: Noticeable weight loss or gain, bloodshot eyes, or a persistent cough may signal substance use.

4️⃣ Secrecy or Deception: If your teen becomes unusually secretive, defensive, or deceptive, this could be a red flag.

5️⃣ Unusual Smells: Persistent smells on their clothes or in their bedroom can indicate substance use.

6️⃣ Money or Possessions Missing: If money or valuables go missing without explanation, it might be a cause for concern.

If you notice these signs and are worried, it's crucial to approach the situation with love, understanding, and the intent to provide help. At Steadfast Psychiatry, we are here to offer guidance, support, and treatment for those struggling with substance misuse. Reach out to us any time.
