UGY Updated
What started as my Mum's 1963 1200 VW is slowly emerging as a 1956 body on a 1967 floorpan with a highly modified 2.2 litre engine.
Mum's poor old car was just too rusted out to be economically returned to service. This is the story of UGY's new life.
And it’s back in for the last time until next time.
Haven’t posted for a while due to rallying and a trip to Europe. Just had the engine out to finish off the cooling system and now it’s going back in.
Fitted the LED stop/tail/indicator conversion today.
Tail lights done. And yes, they are perfectly straight.

Today it was more electrics with fitting the gauge pod and gauges.

Started on the arduous task of UGY’s wiring. Fitting a LHD harness to a RHD car has its challenges, but at least we now have headlights! With Paul Beard at Beardy's Muscle Car Garage.
After fitting UGY’s nice shiny ceramic coated headers we discovered the rear valance no longer fits. So it’s out with the angle grinder and MIG to do some modifications, then back to the ceramic coaters. All good now.

After a medically induced 6 week break it's back to Beardy's Muscle Car Garage and reassembling the doors. Firstly fitting the quarter glass seals and outer window scrapers.
My son Kris is making LED stop/tail/indicators for UGY. He discovered cool white LEDs actually shine orange through the red lens! The stop/tail LEDs are plain red.
Windows are in and door seals fitted. 👍👍👍
