Coot Pursuit Hunting Club
officially established in 2021, a group of longtime christian friends and waterfowl hunters
Well another teal season has come and gone, and I will say that I really hope the general season brings more opportunity. The combination of excessive heat and the lack of rain made for a pretty slow couple weeks of hunting. Fortunately the fishing was pretty good. Casen and I put a smacking on the redfish and boxed quite a few trout as well. All in all the fellowship, good food and fishing made for some good times. Looking forward to some cool fronts bringing some big ducks and enjoyable hunting weather hopefully soon! I've attached photos from the last several weeks, and even threw in a couple pics of myself and Mitch putting in some hard hunting time.
Well we are less than 2 weeks from early teal opener, and despite the excessive heat I can sense the excitement building amongst the club. For me and most of our older members I think I can honestly say that waterfowl hunting for us has evolved from the pursuit of full limits and straps to the pursuit of memories and moments that will stay with us and our kids for the rest of our life's. Maybe this is just a natural progression that comes with age, but either way I know it holds true for me. Casen made a video a while back that has a song that talks about the memories made duck hunting that I will attach to this post, but the song really struck a chord with me, and it got me to thinking and recalling memories from previous seasons, and though I can recall plenty of good hunts through the years, the hunts that I can recall with great detail are the ones where something went wrong. The trials that had to be overcome whether it's boats stuck on mud flats, broke down, nearly sunk, or run aground, or extreme cold and the legit fear of hypothermia for some reason stay with me so vividly. I kind of coined a term a few years back about duck hunting "the misery makes memories" because it's true, we remember the tough times. This got me to thinking about life in general as well, why is it that we never forget the trials that we face? The Bible tells us in John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” I truly believe that our ability to remember the trials in life is purely God's graciousness toward us, you see by remembering the trials we also can see that through every step of those trials God was walking beside us and even carrying us, we can rest in His faithfulness to overcome. Lord willing there will be plenty more memories made this duck season!!

HAPPY 15th BIRTHDAY to my not so Little Monkey, Xander.
Where indeed does the time go?
Well we haven't posted allot during the off season because life has just been busy this year. Fortunately we were able to slow the pace a bit last week and spend some time at chinquapin enjoying some fishing and of course the teal opener. I've got to say the days of scouting before the opener were not encouraging at all, in fact we saw so few teal I was actually not looking forward to sweating in the blind come Saturday morning, but God blessed us with an amazing weekend of hunting and topped it off with great fishing as well. We took right at 50 teal over the weekend and Christina, Sailor, Casen, and Mitch all tagged oversize redfish and Avenly added a slot red to the mix. I could go on and on but suffice to say we had a great trip, and I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story. Looking forward to the last weekend of teal and gearing up for October fishing!!! I also added some pics from the duck blind build last month.
It's universal.
Lots of truth here on the Texas Coast.
