Unlike conventional band-aid solutions that solely focus on suppressing symptoms, I take a root-cause approach to reveal what's standing in the way of your goals so you can stop guessing and work with your body instead of against it.
It’s a week into
does amazing work spreading the message that the unexplainable symptoms we’ve been experiencing has a name.
That it’s valid.
That it’s real.
That it’s biology.
That it’s not our fault.
It creates solidarity and community. It creates awareness amongst health professionals. It spreads light and creates “lightbulb moments.”
However, there are a few downsides that we need navigate .. bc your light is too important to be snuffed out by overwhelm this month.
1️⃣ INFORMATION OVERLOAD
With more people posting about , it can be too much to take it all in. And there will be a lot of people sharing their stories, some hopeful… some not. Remember that you are the only one living out your story — relief is possible.
Do this instead:
👉Set 1 intention for what to RECEIVE this month:
Hopeful messages?
Validation?
Action steps towards relief?
Focus on that one thing.
2️⃣ INCREASED SOCIAL MEDIA USE
While you may enjoy social media at some parts of your cycle, other cycle phases it may feel triggering, exhausting, or overwhelming.
Do this instead:
👉Set boundaries that align with your capacity so it doesn’t deep fry your nervous system.
For me that looks like only going on social media 1-2 times per day for less than 15 minutes total. In fact, I intentionally “fast” from social media during parts of my luteal phase and bleed.
3️⃣ PRESSURE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
If you experience , you likely want to give back to make a difference in this community. So naturally, we can feel a sense of pressure to do as much as we can:
Post …reach out to health organizations… give and collect donations… etc.
We can burn ourselves out!
Do this instead:
👉Set 1 intention for what you want to GIVE to make a difference in your corner of the world.
Donate or collect donations?
Share your story?
Tell ___ # of people about PMD?
Focus on that one thing. Trust that the rest will be taken care of by someone else doing their “one thing.”
Take some time then Comment below: 👇
What’s your 1 intention to give?
What’s your 1 intention to receive?

POV: You and your partner are in love but the constant 🎢 of and and other have made things more "ahhh" than "awwww" ... so you gotta send an extra special Valentine.
WE GET IT! One of the most common reason menstruators seek help is because of the toll it's taking on their relationships, both romantic and platonic. is not a battle we fight alone. It impacts everyone around us.
So, in addition to the cheesy Valentine's cards and roses ... let them know you SEE and appreciate their efforts. Words of affirmation are a PMDD Partners best friend.

Do you ever feel too sensitive for the world?
🙋♀Yep, me too. Let’s talk about it.
I have a history of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) and work with people with PMDD every day, all day. I observe time and time again that folks with PMDD are often highly sensitive and highly empathetic. Sometimes they’re also very intuitive and creative.
Sound familar? We thought so! You are NOT alone.
If this resonates with you, comment "HSP" and we'll send you a direct link to a blog link specifically about the overlap of PMDD and HSP, and of course, some solution-based insights.

Today is . And we’re gonna give a compliment to the person who we tend to give the least to … yep, ourselves!
Why is this important?
Chances are you have a relentless Inner Critic that loves to tell you ALL the ways you're not measuring up. These negative thoughts can paralyze us into inaction. This Inner Critic can be especially intense during the luteal phase.
We typically rely on others to compliment us and help us feel good. And that's nice.
But doing it for ourselves has immense benefits:
* Improves self-esteem and reduces feelings of insecurity
* Highlights your values and what's important to you
* Crowds out our natural human tendency for negative thoughts
* Enhances performance and allows us to unfreeze and take action
* Physical health benefits like lower levels of stress and depression
Want bonus points? Start with your name. There's actually research that complimenting ourselves in third person leads to enhances the benefit.
Drop your compliment in the comments and notice: What do you notice in your body? What thoughts pop up?
Whatever your response, you're not alone!
The magic of food cannot be encapsulated in a pill or broken down into a powder. 😳... YUP—we (a supplement company!) said it.
But is food enough? We got .rd to weight in. Here are the highlights:
〰️Many people fail to meet the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for essential nutrients such as folate, calcium, magnesium, B12, B6 and zinc
〰️The RDA is a recommend number to not be deficient but it is not sufficient for optimal health
〰️The soils our food is grown in is rapidly being depleted of it's nutrients due to modern farming techniques
〰️Our food is loosing nutrient density due to transportation and storage methods
〰️And our increased stress levels and medications are draining our nutrient levels
Moral of the story: You can't out supplement a bad diet but a high quality multivitamin (like the ELIXIR!) will help ensure you're getting everything you need for OPTIMAL hormone health.

During ’s talk at the Summit she said:
“OUR PHYSIOLOGY BECOMES OUR PSYCHOLOGY.”
🙌 Can I get an AMEN?!? 🙌
Mental health treatment in our nation is often limited to therapy and meds (or no treatment at all for 59% of those suffering from mental health disorders as I shared yesterday).
And while therapy and even medication are essential components of care, you’re probably here because those things have fallen short.
So what’s the missing link? The brain-body approach that addresses the physiological root causes that impact our psychology.
That’s why I spend all of my working hours with clients and groups to help them uncover the root factors of mood and premenstrual disorder like:
🔥Inflammation
💩Digestion
🦠Microbiome
🥦Nutrient imbalances
🧠Lack of brain food
🧬Genetics
🧘♀️Mind-body connection
The GOOD NEWS is that all of those factors are things we can address (even genetics!).
👇👇👇Comment below: Which of these root factors would you like to learn about first?
Soaking in all the San Diego at the Summit
Even though the speakers are brilliant leaders in the complex fields of clinical nutrition, nutritional psychiatry, and neuroscience, the overarching theme is pretty simple:
MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS.
Nutritional psychiatrist shared that 1 in 5 adults in the U.S. experience mental illness each year. And 59% go without treatment.
That’s a lot of suffering… and there is no health without mental health.
There’s a growing body of research that nutrition is an essential part of preventing and addressing mental health disorders. quoted a paper from Lancet Psychiatry: “…diet is as important to psychiatry as it is to cardiology, endocrinology, and gastroenterology.”
Food needs to be a part of the solution.
Oh, and he told us to eat kale🥬 and oysters🦪. That matters too. 😉

🎉JOIN ME IN WELCOMING ZOE to the TEAM!🎉
Zoe found Mandy in her darkest days, when she was struggling with the depression and hopelessness PMDD brings along with it every luteal phase. With personalized treatment based on in-depth blood tests, she is now 99% symptom-free.
Her mom said it best when she shared, "I feel like I have my daughter back."
Now Zoe is joining the Reveal Functional Nutrition team to serve others with PMDD. She'll be working behind the scenes as Mandy's assistant as we prepare for an exciting new program (to be announced this week!)
When I was first diagnosed with PMDD, I saw one doctor for birth control, another for anti-depressants, and another professional for hours upon hours of therapy. While I'm grateful for access to healthcare and the care I received, I felt like nobody was putting the pieces TOGETHER.
There was such a disconnect between the dark thoughts, rage, and crying spells and the treatment I was receiving. I was left questioning, "Is it up to me to figure this all out?"
Over time, I answered that question with a resounding "Yes, it is."
You see, the best advocate for you, is YOU. Only you can decide if a treatment or approach aligns with your values, beliefs, and needs.
Yet at the same time, you don't have to walk through that forest alone... with no map and no compass.
That's why we create YOUR roadmap with you. So you can stay in the driver's seat and make informed choices based on evidence-based practices.
Just gonna leave this here. Link in bio.
DEFINITION: co·coon (/kəˈko͞on/)
THE ACT OF ENVELOPING YOURSELF IN COZINESS BEFORE YOUR MENSTRUAL CYCLE.
The end of the luteal phase and early menstruation is a call to REST. When we can let go of expectations and to-dos, it can be restorative instead of tumultuous. I find for myself and my clients, pushing through and saying 'yes' to others and life's demands while saying 'no' to your own inner needs INTENSIFIES symptoms.
If it may not be possible to cocoon as much as you'd like, even a few minutes is enough to send your body and mind the message that you matter too.
Here are a few ways I COCOON even if I can't fully hibernate:
🤎Wearing my favorite old sweatshirt (it's going on 15 years old!)
🛌In bed with the blinds drawn, under a ridiculous amount of blankets
💤Weighted blanket and a cup of tea while working
🤐Putting in ear plugs if life feels too loud
🛀Epsom salt bath with candles and Netflix
HOW DO YOU COCOON?
The reality is, PMDD is a beast. What works for one person doesn't always work for the next. If you're anything like I was, you've already tried multiple treatment options with minimal relief.
I struggled with PMDD symptoms for years and know how hopeless it can feel when nothing is working.
That's why I created this space for you to learn about a data-driven approach so you can stop guessing and finally live in harmony with your cycle.
Check out the images for a description of the event + link in bio to register!
See you on Monday!
Imagine for a second that you don't have PMDD. You have some other condition with physical symptoms that are obvious and VISIBLE to others.
Would you hide it❔
Would you blame yourself❔
With both physical and psychological symptoms, it's the ones related to mood and emotion that often carry the most shame.
Simply put, this feeling of shame leads the sometimes unconscious belief that "I feel bad. Therefore I'm bad. This is my fault."
I'll save my soapbox speech for another day on the role that societal expectations play in that.
Instead, here's a quick reminder whether you're experiencing darkness or basking in the light of a few symptom-free weeks:
♥You are worthy, just as you are, regardless of what you achieve.
♥You deserve support and you can learn how to ask for what you need.
♥Your struggles are valid, even if they aren’t visible or understood by others.
When PMDD symptoms are severe, it can feel isolating when you feel like nobody quite gets it.
So when a listener reached out and said "I've never felt so understood" after listening to this podcast, I was even more grateful for the time I spent with host Adriana Fudge Tantau on Podcast.
Tune in to listen as we dig deep about a functional medicine and holistic approach to PMDD.
