A space-saving problem finally solved with these ship stairs, gaining much needed wall space while retaining access to the mezzanine level. The safety hazard posed by the previously installed floating staircase has also been eliminated.

There's something very satisfying about seeing your design come to life, so here's a shout out to all the tradesmen and skilled workers who execute the design to perfection. The photos show a fireplace surround taking shape and wall panelling making the most of this very long but spacious corridor.

A recent makeover. This room had dark brown feature walls and a custom-made fitted T.V unit. The colour scheme consisted of browns and beige mainly, which looked tired and outdated, so crisp wall finishings, black accents and muted blues were incorporated for added contrast. A blend of old and new individual pieces replaced the 'run of the mill' furniture, thus ensuring that the resulting scheme is both contemporary and timeless, while remaining highly budget-conscious.

A while ago I posted a drawing of a sideboard I designed. Here's the finished result. Chamfered frame, 45 degree joints, inset doors and oversized pulls are some of the features I incorporated into the design. This is made entirely of solid beech - no mean feat for the joiner as it required great woodworking skills in order to respect joinery requisites without compromising the design.

When styling a room or a space for a client I prepare a product list that respects the client's existing scheme, often incorporating furniture that is already in use. In some instances, a visual is prepared to help the client understand how the products chosen will achieve the desired result, i.e., a style and colour scheme that appeals to the client and gives them the wow factor they have been looking for. A product list visual looks something like this.

R. D-sign takes pride in designing custom-made pieces that are all about quality and style. This retro-inspired sideboard is currently being constructed entirely from solid beech. The horizontal drawer pulls might yet be tweaked a little but those oversized button pulls are there to stay! I hope you are as eager as I am to see the finished result🙂

A project R. D-sign worked on some months ago. Suggested structural alterations were taken on board by the client and the result was an open plan that doubled in space. Walls were demolished and supporting beams were used to define different areas in the open plan. This meant that adequate ceiling height could be retained, a requirement that is often overlooked by homeowners.
