This "shadow system of DIY tests" has changed my and my clients' lives!
Some of these tests are kinda wonky, some provide diagnoses, but the ones I use are designed to educate my clients about what's happening in their bodies so they know how to restore function naturally.
That's why we have such phenomenal health outcomes!
Doctors serve a great purpose, but most of them are NOT TRAINED to restore health (we can blame the pharmaceutical and insurance industries for that). They know generic wellness advice that doesn't work for everyone, and they often go through trial and error to guess which meds will be most effective in slowing down disease processes - but not reversing it.
And not all these tests are fully reflective of what's happening in the body, either. Most test can't stand alone to make a huge difference in a person's health because there are so many different dysfunctional systems for so many different reasons.
Not all health coaches and practitioners are aware of all our bioindividualities, either, which is why we get so many differing opinions ("veganism is healthy!" "keto is the best!" "no, carnivore is the way!")
If you can't find a practitioner who is willing to tailor their practices to the invidual, get down to all the nuances that makes a person who they are and respond how they do, it's best to find another practitioner.
I'm one of those practitioners you want to find! 😉
That's my !
Doctors couldn’t help. They turned to a shadow system of DIY medical tests. Silicon Valley entrepreneurs are creating a parallel medical ecosystem of at-home tests allowing people to bypass the doctor’s office entirely.
I've created a mini-course (6 modules, 5-10 minutes each, no test, lol) about the basics of my protocols. It will be part of my programs and I'll also sell it separately, but am not sure for how much yet.
It's not perfect (I mispronounce then repeat those words a few times), but it's done.
I'm looking for 3-4 people to review it for me and let me know if it's easy (or difficult) to access, listen to, and follow along. I want to send it to my new client by tomorrow.
Any takers?
Comment below or send me a PM and I'll send you the link to it!
Thank you!
So many people take supplements without knowing whether their body could actually use them. This is why using clinical data to support these types of important decisions is so important.
As an FDN-P, I recommend testing rather than guessing!
Study: Fish oil supplements may lead to heart problems People without a history of heart disease who regularly took fish oil supplements had a 13% higher risk of developing atrial fibrillation and a 5% greater risk of stroke.
💡 Shift your perspective on stress: It's not just a burden; it's an opportunity for growth.
🌱 Stress can serve as a powerful catalyst for positive change, pushing us to adapt, learn, and evolve. Embrace the challenge by reframing stress as a signal to reassess priorities, strengthen resilience, and cultivate self-awareness.
🌟 Rather than viewing stress as a threat, see it as a teacher, guiding you towards greater clarity, purpose, and fulfillment. Together, let's transform stress from a stumbling block into a stepping stone on your journey to optimal health and well-being.
🌟 Business Update: While I'm actively seeking new clients, I understand the importance of practicing what I preach when it comes to stress management.
💼 Balancing the demands of entrepreneurship with self-care is key. Each day, I prioritize stress mitigation techniques like mindfulness, exercise, and proper nutrition to stay centered and focused.
🧘♂️ Remember, managing stress isn't just about surviving – it's about thriving in every aspect of life, including business. If you're ready to take control of your health journey and conquer stress, let's connect!
Stress isn't just about external pressures; it's often fueled by our internal responses. Ignoring emotional triggers can intensify stress.
💥 Combat this by embracing mindfulness. Start by acknowledging your emotions without judgment.
🧘♀️ Practice deep breathing exercises to calm the mind and body.
🌬️ Incorporate regular meditation sessions to cultivate mental resilience. I like sensory-based mini-sessions, using any of my 5 senses for 2-3 minutes.
🧠 Remember, you hold the power to transform how you respond to stress.
Take control with mindfulness techniques. ✨

BEAM Minerals
For lunch today, I went to a new (to me) restaurant and ordered food I typically eat (a pork burrito with rice, beans, onions, cilantro, and cheese).
Before I even finished eating, I had developed a canker sore inside my upper lip, and now, about 45 minutes later, my heart is racing and pounding hard against my chest.
These, my friends, are signs of food sensitivities or allergies.
Because I regularly eat the main ingredients of the meal without symptoms, I imagine the offending food item is a hidden ingredient - perhaps a spice or the fat they used to cook the food.
Regardless of what it is, I know my body is in its stress response right now. Because digestion is unnecessary when we're being chased by a bear in the woods (our stress response doesn't differentiate based on cause), my digestion isn't working, so I'm not even getting the nourishment I needed from the food. My cortisol is raised, which is raising my blood sugar even higher than what the food itself is doing to me.
And I'm okay.
Normally, I wouldn't take a charcoal binder right after a meal because it will affect mineral absorption, but since I'm not digesting right anyway, I don't think it matters. So I took a binder. I don't know that it will help, but it won't hurt.
The other things I've done have been just to work on my stress response.
Activating a different part of the brain can take the body out of the stress response, at least temporarily, so I've been doing a series of PQ® exercises - short, sensory-based meditations designed to keep that part of my brain active.
I'm setting timers to keep doing those PQ® reps. I don't have the time right now to meditate for longer periods, so 1-2 minutes here and there will go a long way towards calming my body down.
If you're curious what a PQ® Rep is, check out the PQ® Gym videos in the link below. These are 5- and 15-minute sessions, but you can easily pick out the shorter exercises you like and incorporate them into your daily life whenever you're feeling a bout of stress or any negative emotions.
Do you ever get a racing heart after eating? Tell me about it in the comments! What do you do when that happens to you?

Trying something new that arrived in the mail today... BEAM Minerals!
I joined a webinar about them last week and was incredibly intrigued by how they work.
The sprays arrived first, on Monday, and by Wednesday, my new bruise (from Friday) was nearly gone!
That's from the Insta-Lytes spray, which is good for muscle cramps, bruises, hives, rashes, and other aworm.
The Respra-Lytes seemed to help with my sinus congestion a little, not hugely, and the Happy-Lytes are for relaxation/mood elevation. I'm already in a good mood so can't say they relax or elevate my spirits, but that bergamot sure smells great. I probably will wait to use that again until I'm in a funk... it happens from time to time.
Today I'm gonna fill out a new Metabolic Chaos Scorecard, haven't done that on awhile, to check in on my symptoms.
In another week or two, I'll fill out a new one and check back in here to let you know if I notice any changes in my energy levels or other symptoms.
Coincidentally (or perhaps there are no coincidences), I also received my newest Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis results yesterday.
Rather than start a new supplement protocol, I will just use these minerals for the next 3 months and see how things change for me just taking these minerals.
For complete transparency, I also wear patches known to activate our stem cells.
The patches are more effective when we have enough minerals in our system, so my results may or may not be typical.
I'm my own laboratory, always exploring what's going to work best for me, so I can help my clients learn to feel their best too!
Interested in learning more? Feel free to comment or send me a message.
Soon I'll have a discount code for you to order BEAM Minerals if you want to try them for yourself.
With spring break around the corner, I saw this graphic on a natural health doctor's page and found it both fascinating and frightening.
We absolutely NEED sunlight for health!
Different frequencies of the sun's light rays activate different receptors, peptides, and processes in our body, benefitting everything from mood to digestion, hormones to sleep.
We ARE light. So we need light.
But we also know when we get too much sun and burn, it increases our chances for skin cancer.
So what gives?
As it turns out, the body makes its own sunscreen - the best, most effective sunscreen possible.
I'm sure you've heard of it... it's melanin, the brown-to-black pigment that gives our skin color when we've been in the sun (and gives people brown/black hair and eyes). The more melanin, the darker we are.
When we burn, that means we aren't producing enough melanin to overcome the intensity of the sun's rays.
So, what helps with melanin production?
Nutrients, specifically Vitamins A, C, E, and antioxidants!
Some of the richest sources of Vitamin A are naturally orange foods such as carrots, sweet potatoes, and of course, oranges, along with fish and meals.
Vitamin C can be found in citrus fruits, berries, and green vegetables. Did you know that green peppers are higher in Vit C than citrus?
Nuts, seeds, grains, fresh fruits, and vegetables are rich in Vitamin E.
Foods like dark berries, dark leafy vegetables, and dark chocolate, are the best sources of antioxidants.
Then we have things like Eggs, Plums, Almonds, and Pine Nuts which are high in everything and help your body produce melanin.
One more important category to mention is Flavonoids, which some studies have shown reduce the risk of melanoma. We find flavonoids in fresh fruits, vegetables, and teas.
I'll be eating my sun protection this summer, the same way I always do. How 'bout you?
This funny shirt reminded me of a very real client...
When I reviewed his medication side effects (3rd pic) and noticed how closely they match with his main complaints (2nd pic), I asked him about his medication history.
"What was the first medication you ever took?"
He started taking a prescription for heartburn.
Then his blood pressure went up.
After the blood pressure med, depression set in.
Then the sexual dysfunction.
Then the high cholesterol.
Then the sleeplessness...
I mean, the story almost wrote itself as I went through his med list, and he confirmed it all.
Listen, I'm not saying all prescriptions are bad... truly, medications can save lives.
But maintenance meds? So many times it's really not that difficult to get your health back to the point where you don't actually need that first medication and all the side effects that come with it (I promise, even if you don't notice a side effect, there is a side effect).
I can't even imagine what my health would look like if I had accepted that high cholesterol medication from my doctor in 2008. I do not believe for a moment I would feel as youthful and vibrant as I do today.
Would you like to chat about how you can avoid this medication cascade?

Let me tell you about Positive Intelligence(R) and Mental Fitness!
I want to try this mosquito repellent!
Who else makes their own?
Every year I try new recipes. They always have lemon, usually have vanilla, and there are always a few other oils involved. I've got a stack of post-its with yummy bog-repelling recipes. Sometimes they smell so good I wear them as perfume!
I haven't made anything like this for outdoors though.
Have any of you tried it? If so, what do you think?
I believe, like everything else I've learned, what works for one might not work for someone else... as much as we are all the same, we also have incredible bioindividuality. That's why I love trying ALL the recipes to see what works best for me!
I'd love to experiment with your tried-and-true mosquito-repelling recipes! Please share yours in the comments!
I'm really excited!
I won a grant for coaches to participate in a program called Positive Intelligence.
The 6-week program officially starts tomorrow and is led by NYTimes best-selling author Shirzad Chamine to teach how to use mental muscle memory to overcome self-saboteurs (that negative voice inside our heads) with the sage wisdom we each have.
We will be our own first clients (as with any training), but we will also learn how to use this in our own practices!
We work in pods of 3-5 coaches for accountability and support throughout the program. My pod consists of 3 of my fellow FDN-Ps and me. Our regular weekly FDN-P group had to separate into two pods, and the other has 3 total members, so we will occasionally all meet up.
This will be really fun!
I'm really excited, though, because just before our deployment, my National Guard unit spent a couple hours a day for a week or two, learning a very specific set of moves in case we were ever without weapons in a hand-to-hand combat situation.
Muscle memory.
Nearly 18 years later, I wouldn't want to be the person who thinks I'm vulnerable.
The same set of moves over and over, a couple hours a day. My body will never forget them. Ask John. We both have to be careful when he surprises me with tickles. 🤣
So this mental muscle memory? Yeah! I'm all in!!
And I can't WAIT to be able to utilize my new skills!
There's a cool quiz in the link to assess your Positive Intelligence. I scored a 79, kind of on the tipping point.
The assessment is in the page I linked.
By the way, anyone can purchase the Positive Intelligence program. It's not just for coaches!
Shirzad actually developed the program for CEOs and executive teams to improve workplace morale and production.
****
Funny and related note:
The Positive Intelligence program uses an app, and many of the coaches in our cohort are introducing themselves in the group feed.
RevJeannie wrote, her "mission is to give God a good time[...] with love, humor, hugs, hope and hummus[...]"
I may have just found my new spiritual mentor. 😁
I told her I'd like to chat!
The Science of Positive Intelligence | Positive Intelligence Our PQ Program focuses on growing three specific mental muscles, which become visible as new neural pathways in MRI imaging within 8 weeks of practice.
What are the differences? Does it matter? Watch to find out!
Did you know bloodwork is only a snapshot of a moment in time?
It's true!
Blood always seeks homeostasis, or balance, so it draws from whatever resources exist to try to maintain that balance!
Not enough calcium from your diet? That's okay, your blood will take it from your bones!
Your doctor will only notice depleted calcium when there's not enough in your blood - by then it's already been depleted from your bones!
And excess calcium? Your doctor won't notice that, either. It'll get stored in your liver and soft tissues, slowing down metabolic processes...
But I have a test to check for that... and ways to help you learn to remedy it! My clients love me!
And I love my tests...
Now I've got a new one... keep reading!
So if calcium finds a way to maintain balance in the blood, what do you think hormones do?
That's right! They'll also seek homeostasis in the blood! Deficiencies or excesses are only noticed when it's too late... and you know what else blood can't tell us? Where the deficiency is coming from!
So, not enough estrogen being produced in your body?
That's okay, your blood will find a way to balance! I mean, you may not notice any symptoms for awhile, years maybe... or maybe you do notice the symptoms, but you write them off as "normal" (hello 16-year-old me writhing on the floor with cramps in geometry sophomore year)
Until... low estrogen in your blood (if your doc even bothers to check, because you know, you're in your 40's now)?
Well, that's a problem...
Yeah it's a problem, alright!
But where's the problem?
Did you know supplementing with the wrong forms of estrogen if your estrogen prefers the 4-OH pathway can actually CAUSE cancer? Or too much going down 16-OH can cause tumors? Too little going down 16-OH and you'll lose bone density?
Did you know supplementing with the right form of estrogen for too long can actually LOWER estrogen?
Confusing, right?
Listen, ladies... I know being almost 50 sucks!
Our hormones are all over the place, and if we're still lucky enough to have ovaries, our cycles are now all over the place, too!
Maybe our mood swings are worse than ever.
Maybe where we hold weight has shifted.
Maybe the PMS has changed. Hell, I just had sore b***s for SIX WEEKS! And I even had a period in the middle of it!
Maybe our hair is dry, thinning, or turning gray.
Maybe we can't sleep at night or wake up soaking wet.
Maybe we have that one hair that keeps growing from our chin, regardless of how often we pluck it.
Hell, maybe some of us are already experiencing hot flashes!
These are all signs of hormonal imbalances!
And I'm pretty excited!
I'm learning a new (to me) hormone test - the DUTCH (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones).
I love it because it tells a lot more about our hormones than the previous one I'd learned.
Now, instead of just knowing estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone levels, I can also learn WHICH pathways the hormones are taking - and this tells us A LOT about where dysfunction can be happening!
In addition, while I still have cortisol and DHEA, I also now get to see the Cortisol Awakening Response, which is VERY informative about stress levels, sleep issues, blood sugar dysregulation, pain, and even mood disorders!
PLUS!! The DUTCH even has organic acid markers, which are helpful in identifying digestive, neurotransmitter, and oxidative stress dysfunction!
I am SO EXCITED to take my test and see how my hormones have changed since my previous hormone test, and to see what more I can learn about which pathways and metabolites my body is creating!
And this is good news for YOU!
As a new practitioner with Precision Analytical Labs, I am eligible to receive 50% OFF my first prepaid order, up to 5 tests!
I've already signed up 3 clients, so I have TWO MORE discounted DUTCH tests available!

Have you heard of the brand-new app Goodself? It's brand-new and JUST became available to the public!
I'm on there as an expert, along with thousands of others!
It's kind of like social media for your health, and the entire feed is posts by experts - some written, some meme-style, some videos. And each expert has been approved by the creators of the app!
You can follow whomever you'd like, so there is A LOT of value to be found!
Today I was browsing through it, and I saw this great share by a Nutritionist and Vegan Health Coach named Katy Malkin.
I was immediately inspired to share it with you, and I wanted to give Katy credit for coming up with it. I don't know her, but I started following her today.
