These skills can be taught to your community by the BCSO Deputies and COP program members.

COP Member Christina gave her time today assisting Sheriff Javier Salazar and Deputy Hernandez with SCORE unit co-facilitating a Scam and Fraud Awareness Presentation to the VFW Post 4815 veterans and community members.

This presentation can be given during your HOA meetings or stand alone awareness for your neighbors in your communities and can be taught by our COP members.

Today we highlighted Wortham Oaks Team Leader and Team Members with service awards for being in the Cellular On Patrol program.

Clifford McCarter started their program in July 2022 and has since grown a team of 11 members.

In total they have committed 463 volunteer hours to patrol their community and surrounding areas making a safe place to live in and aiding the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office by being the eyes and ears! 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽

Deputy Hernandez and Turbeville will be reaching out to program members to set up more service awards. 🫡

On Tuesday January 24th, 2023 SCORE Deputies Hernandez and Turbeville will be attending Weston Oaks community safety session located at 12500 Reid Ranch, starting at 6 PM to 7:30 PM.

We would like to have several Cellular on Patrol members assist us by promoting the program, this community is very eager to start a program and we currently have seven applications from this community alone so far for the February C.O.P. training class. We want to welcome them with a strong show of force.

The C.O.P. Members that attend would speak about the program and what success you have had along with some constraints, if faced with any. Deputies Hernandez and Turbeville will be leading the session with crime prevention tips, and the Q&A forum.

There are 60 community members that have RSVP’d for the session and we now are expecting more.

Several of our COP members assisted the SCORE Unit with a Special Operation, they utilized their skill sets developed by the COP training program and of their countless hours of being active in the program. This was a successful operation and we will be having more in the future.

We had a training class yesterday at the East Patrol Substation. We had members from Wortham Oaks, Crownwood, Villages of WestCreek, MesaCreek, Balcones Creek, Ventura, MacArthur Park and Hunters Way.

Our program membership cannot be thanked enough for their continued efforts to make their communities a safer place to live. They play a vital role be being the eyes and ears for the community and the BCSO.

We will be meeting at a minimum once a month in different areas of the county with additional training sites added along with having our program membership assisting the SCORE unit with upcoming operations.

Our next training class will be in North Bexar County, details to be announced soon!

Several of our COP members showed up to facilitate our program to the Ventura community and surrounding neighborhoods during a safety meeting at the Spring Meadows Elementary School.

We had a great turnout by the community and provided presentations on how to keep your property safe from burglars, how to report illegal activity, and how to empower the community to keep their neighborhood safe by joining our Cellular on Patrol (C.O.P.) program. Additionally, Sheriff Salazar provided an update regarding proactive measures in an effort to decrease crime and deter criminal activity along the FM 78 corridor.
