Observing International Worker’s Day on May 1, 2024. Is Eid Vacation An Option For 3-Wheeler Drivers?

For the past 2 years, we have been working very closely with electric 3-wheeler drivers, a widely unrecognized informal workforce of Bangladesh. Atleast 30 to 40 lac drivers employed in this sector according to the recent report by Pure Earth Bangladesh. Usually the Cassetex Battery Swapping service runs 7 days a week, including government holidays and ofcourse Eid holidays. This workforce does not take holidays. There is no such concept amongst them. So we are open as well.

However, this Eid we faced a new and surprising positive challenge. About 80% of our customers came to our service agents and asked are we okay if they took 3 days off for Eid! This is the first time in many years that they could take the risk of not working for few days. With their prior debts paid off, and with great affordability of our service, they know they can recoup the earnings later. Maybe this is too early to say this will be the norm, but we can only hope to work towards maintaining this and keep on growing the service!

বিগত ২ বছর ধরে, আমরা ব্যাটারি চালিত গাড়ির চালকদের সাথে খুব ঘনিষ্ঠ ভাবে কাজ করছি, যারা কি না বাংলাদেশের অনেক বড় পরিমাণের অনানুষ্ঠানিক কর্মীবাহিনী। Pure Earth এর সাম্প্রতিক প্রতিবেদন অনুসারে এই সেক্টরে কমপক্ষে ৩০ থেকে ৪০ লাখ চালক কর্মরত। সাধারণত ক্যাসেটেক্স ব্যাটারি সোয়াপিং সেবা সপ্তাহে ৭ দিন চলে, যার মধ্যে সরকারি ছুটি এবং অবশ্যই ঈদের ছুটিও রয়েছে। এই কর্মীরা কখনই ছুটি নেয় না। তাদের মধ্যে এমন কোনো ধারণায় নেই। আমরাও নেই না।

কিন্তু এই ঈদে আমরা একটি নতুন এবং বিস্ময়কর চ্যালেঞ্জের মুখোমুখি হয়েছি। আমাদের গ্রাহকদের মধ্যে প্রায় ৮০% চালক আমাদের কাছে এসে জিজ্ঞাসা করেছিল যে তারা ঈদের জন্য ৩ দিন গাড়ি বন্ধ রাখতে পার্বে কি না?

এই প্রথমবারের জন্য, তারা কয়েকদিন কাজ বন্ধ রেখে পরিবারের সাথে এই ছুটি উদযাপন করার ভাবনা রাখেে। তাদের আগের ঋণ পরিশোধ হয়ে গেছে এবং আমাদের সেবা সাশ্রয়ী বলে তারা এই চিন্তা করতে পেরেছে । যতটুক না ইনকাম বন্ধ হবে সেটা ঈদ এর পরেই পুনরুদ্ধার করতে পারবে।

হয়তো এই ঘটনা সব সময় বাস্তব হবে না, কিন্তু আমরা এই লক্ষ্য নিয়েই কাজ করছি এবং ক্যাসেটেক্স সেবার বৃদ্ধি নিয়ে এগিয়ে যাচ্ছি।

Cassetex , a gamechanger amongst giants!

At this very moment, many companies/institutions are working tremendously hard to develop solutions that will change the world. This year, International Telecommunication Union and United Nations Development Programme - UNDP have identified several gamechangers. Under the "Planet" category, projects for companies like Huawei , Ushahidi, AIS Thailand have been selected as Top 10 solutions.

Happy to share that Cassetex has been included amongst this list, and on 17 September 2023, will be showcased at the United Nations Headquarters in New York!

Electric Vehicle Standardization in Bangladesh!

Local vehicle OEMs in discussion with experts from BUET, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and other stakeholders including Bangladesh Police, regarding future of Electric 3-Wheelers.

On the 5th anniversary of the historic on tackling climate change, we celebrate alongside organizations like Solar Impulse, ClimateLaunchpad, C40 Cities, Climate-KIC, Circular Cities Asia and all the organisations and work that is represented through them. Quoting latest C40 report, more than 50 of the world’s leading cities are on track to help keep global heating below 1.5C and tackle the worst impacts of the climate crisis. The real hope is in the people!

We dream of a future where clean transportation will enable the creation, growth and mobility of sustainable societies!

Our work on sustainability mobility has just been shared in the digital version of The Beam magazine, an international publication covering climate action stories. ClimateLaunchpad is the world's largest green business competition. In 2020, amidst the pandemic, local social venture Gen Lab, led by Ratul Dev introduced this competition to Bangladesh to promote and uncover all the great climate solutions taking shape in our country. Several teams including us went through an exciting journey of 2 months. It was a big honour and surprise to be awarded the Global First Prize in this year's competition.
