SMART moves for your back: A stronger, healthier, more flexible back
A stronger, healthier, more flexible back
According to the CDC, over 86,000 adults fall every day in the U.S.
That’s one fall every second.
Falling is a SERIOUS CONCERN for many aging adults.
It was for Jane.
She was a fit-looking woman in her fifties.
She’d usually be able to “catch herself” before she’d fall… until one day Jane wasn’t so lucky.
She took a nasty spill. Her body was badly bruised. And she was fortunate she didn’t break any bones.
As a result, Jane became anxious she was going to fall again.
Her fear of falling was limiting her activities… AND putting a strain on her happy, 30-year marriage.
Jane had stopped doing EVERYDAY ACTIVITIES… even grocery shopping. This left her husband to pick up the slack.
She’d also stopped going on hikes with her husband… one of their favorite activities.
Both she and her husband were devastated by these sudden changes. They yearned to get their lives back.
Jane had tried exercises, stretches and therapy… which hadn’t worked… because they didn’t address her “underlying problem”.
That’s when she found me and made an appointment.
I watched Jane fearfully shuffle around my office like she was an old lady.
And I immediately noticed a MAJOR issue that was causing her balance problem.
If we didn’t address it, Jane would most likely suffer another major fall any day now.
So I worked with Jane to resolve the major issue that was causing her balance problems.
And in no time... Jane was gliding around the room like she was 30 years younger.
She gracefully waltzed back into being her normal self again.
She was able to resume shopping, cooking and other everyday activities.
And best of all… her husband was as thrilled with her progress as she was.
They treasured their time together now more than ever. They even savored going on several all-day hiking trips.
If you’re worried about losing your balance… I’ve made this 2-minute video for you.
It illustrates what Jane did to get her life back on track so she can prevent falls and have better balance… and what YOU CAN DO too.

Maybe you've wanted to do Anat Baniel Method NeuroMovement Lessons for yourself or your child... but you don't have a practitioner that lives nearby.
So you think it’s impossible to get NeuroMovement Lessons for yourself or your child... and have meaningful changes in the way you move, feel and use your body.
But actually, you probably can (and should) get in-person NeuroMovement Lessons… even if you don’t live near a practitioner.
That's because NeuroMovement appointments are scheduled differently from therapy or alternative approaches.
Most professionals schedule your sessions once or twice a week.
And if you’ve ever tried these approaches… you might not have had lasting changes (or perhaps any changes).
That can be frustrating.
Here’s one of the main reasons this happens:
When sessions are spread out like that … it’s nearly impossible to make lasting changes.
Research shows that when you allow too much time to pass between appointments… you don’t retain the newly acquired information nearly as well.
But when one session follows another by only hours... your brain is primed to retain the information, learn more and build upon your knowledge at each session.
That’s why NeuroMovement Lessons are scheduled hours apart over a few days.
This is one of the many reasons NeuroMovement is different and more effective.
You immerse yourself and know much more after a few days than you would if you spent a month doing the same number of appointments.
If you usually go to therapy or alternative appointments twice a week over a month… that’d be 8 appointments.
With NeuroMovement, you can accomplish way more with those 8 appointments by doing them twice a day for just 4 days.
That’s a month’s worth of progress in just 4 short days!
So if you want to make lasting changes, NeuroMovement's ”immersion learning process” can help you do that.

We take movement for granted...
"Stop.
Just for a moment.
With all the moving we do...
Maybe we've forgotten how joyous movement can be...
From the first step… to the last mile...
We live in a world where movement can help unlock human potential.
But movement can be lost...
And it can also be gained.
Movement belongs to all of us.
And no matter who you are... or where you're from...
We can help you get to wherever you need to go.
And before you know it, you're on a great journey.
And moving from who you are... to who you will become.”
These are the words from a Toyota commercial.
It was shown during the winter Olympics that just ended.
In just one minute, the commercial captured much of what is beautiful about our ability to move.
I understand this better than most…
I work with adults and kids of all ages who:
- lost the ability to move well
- never had it in the first place
- have pain when they move now
Movement is integral to our lives and who we are.
So however you can move…
It’s important to not take it for granted.
And if you’re struggling to move the way you want…
Just know that there’s always hope for improvement.
I know the words above are from just a commercial.
But I thought you might enjoy it as much as I did.
The images add depth and meaning to the words.
I couldn't find the original, but if you want to watch it...
Here's a shortened 30-second version:

Achieve goals easier with THIS “Olympic Training Method”
Almost 3,000 athletes have just finished competing in the Olympics in Beijing
I’m especially in awe of the figure skaters who can do a “Quad Jump”.
They catapult themselves into the air... do four rotations.. then land on two thin blades... and make it all look elegant.
Then there are the Freestyle skiers.
They fly down a steep slope at 40 miles per hour... do some wild acrobatic flips 50 feet up in the air while grabbing their ski... and then nail the landing.
But you don’t have to be an Olympian to master complex skills.
Us regular folks can too.
From my days as a ballerina, I know it took not only hours of practice to perfect a single stunt but also something else…
Imagination.
Athletes use their imagination to improve their skills.
They imagine themselves doing it perfectly and effortlessly.
When you hear "imagination" you may be thinking of visualization.
And yes, visualization is one way to use your imagination.
You can "see" yourself in your mind's eye doing an activity.
It's like watching yourself in a movie.
But there's another way you can use your imagination.
It's what I call imagining "by sensing".
You do this by paying attention to the sensations you might have if you were doing an activity.
For example, if you were to imagine "by sensing" riding a bike...
..You'd feel and sense what it'd be like to push the pedals, steer the handlebars, keep your balance and feel the wind in your face.
So there are at least two ways you can use your imagination.
You can "see" yourself doing an activity... or "sense" what it'd feel like.
Athletes use their imagination in at least one of these ways.
It helps them figure out how to do an activity even better.
There's lots of scientific evidence behind using imagination to improve.
And you don't have to use it only for athletic skills.
In a study, researchers had people learn to play a song on the piano.
Then the participants practiced.
Some practiced on the piano while others only imagined practicing.
The amazing discovery was:
There were changes in the brains of both groups.
And the changes of the “imagineers” were the same as those who did the physical practice.
Both groups played the song better whether they physically practiced or just imagined practicing.
This proves imagination has a real impact.
And you don’t have to exert physical effort to make those improvements.
You can also use your imagination to benefit in other ways:
- Gain more flexibility and mobility like being able to bend over easier
- Improve your posture
- Recover from an old injury
So now I'm curious...
Do you have something you'd like to do even better...
..And how you can use your imagination "by seeing" or "by sensing" to help you improve?
I'd love to hear your ideas if you want to share....
