My name is Alexandra Kunzler! I am originally from Sacramento, CA, but moved to Arizona when I was two. I married my high school sweetheart and we have four beautiful babies - Shay in 3rd grade, Dylan in 1st grade, Ryan in preschool, and a two year old, Noah! In my free time I love to craft. I currently have a small baby & kid shop in Scottsdale! This is my first year teaching and I am so excited and fortunate to be at Horseshoe Trails. Go Stallions!

💫NEW AND IMPORTANT THIS YEAR💫
This school year HTES has a brand new volunteer training process that includes an in person Volunteer Training that is facilitated by HTES Administration. In order to step foot on campus as a “volunteer” all parents, family, and community members must attend an in person training.
In August we will hold FOUR Volunteer Training sessions-
August 16th at 2:45 PM in our school library
August 23rd at 9:15 AM in our school library
August 30th at 9:15 AM AND 2:45 PM in our school library

Beginning in September, HTES will hold a Volunteer Training session the first Friday of each month on a rollercoaster schedule of AM and PM opportunities.

Meet Mrs. Utterback, 6th Grade

Hey howdy hey, Horseshoe Trails community! My name is Jenny Utterback, and I am thrilled to join the amazing staff at HTES teaching 6th grade math and science. Growing up in Denver, Colorado, I discovered my passion for teaching early on, often playing school for fun as a kid and working as a nanny and swim coach as a teen. I earned my elementary education degree from Brigham Young University and had the privilege of student teaching abroad in Fiji. After graduation, I began teaching 5th grade in the Jordan School District in Utah. During year 3 of teaching, my career paused to have my first child and move out of state for my husband’s new job. After 3 additional moves and the birth of 3 more children, we are happily settled here in Cave Creek with our 3 cats (PJ, Cheeto & Dorito) and tiny dog (Cougar). My two older boys attend CSHS and STMS, while my 2 younger kids attend HTES, making it a special place for our family. Outside the classroom, I enjoy playing pickleball, listening to podcasts, family movie nights, and sushi dates with my awesome husband. Looking forward to a great year!

This Friday is a Stallion Strong First Friday! On the First Friday of the month, we celebrate our school pride by wearing our HTES swag and we party at lunch recess! Volunteers hand out FREE popcorn to students in HTES gear and we have the prize wheel available to students - $1 per spin!

We also host a snack cart to celebrate our teachers on First Friday- families can sign up to decorate the cart with a theme of their choice and stock it with goodies for the teachers. The family who decorates the cart gets to take it around campus for a surprise and delight tour! Our teachers and staff LOVE seeing the families who bring the cart around!
