These pieces of clothing are meant to start a discussion and spread awareness about this vital information more should be educated on. Help us spread awareness and smiles with your purchase! One great way to inform yourself about the Deaf community is by watching Youtube videos that spread awareness about things you may have never realized. was the first Deaf awareness Youtube channel I had ever seen and watched. Ryan, pictured left, is Deaf and Ellen, pictured right, is hearing. They show us how a Deaf- hearing relationship is possible and how hearing people can best accommodate the Deaf community. It really helped me learn valuable information that I have been able to use in my life and has helped me navigate how to go about Deaf Ally. If you want to learn a little bit more about the Deaf community I would definitely check them out :)

Happy back to school! Hopefully now that we have been able to settle in to this new school year under new circumstances we have had enough time to adjust. You may be noticing that your space could use a little more of something. Maybe that laptop or tablet you take classes on is a little bland, or your water bottle is bleak. Today we made our donation! We’re so glad we could give back to our YWLA family! These teachers and staff really deserve to be appreciated right now, ensuring our calm during these hectic times. These rough times have put us all in tough situations, but teachers have been put in by far one of the worst. The love they have for their students is so great that they would risk their own lives at the expense of being able to give us the gift of knowledge. Why wouldn’t we want to give them the necessary equipment to keep them safe while being able to communicate with their beloved students and giving them the opportunity to become a Deaf ally?

Thanks so much to all who have taken the time to LIKE our page. Summer of Service, a local non-profit, will be assisting our efforts to get these masks to local students, teachers, and other community members. But, this initiative will need the help of our great San Antonio community (our village).

The clear masks are pretty expensive, about $12-15 per mask, but they are definitely worth every penny so that those in the Deaf and HOH communities can communicate with more people ease.
