Injury update:
So it appears I have a stress fracture on my 5th metatarsal on my left foot and a fractured tibia on my right leg. Apart from that, and a few bruised toes, I think I got off quite lightly.
I will need to lay off the running for a while, but I'll hopefully be able to keep up the fitness with some lower impact stuff like swimming, cycling, cross training etc.
Next thing on the list is the 100 mile ride london cycle ride. I'm aiming to complete the London Challenge which comprises of the following three events.
London Marathon
Serpentine 2 mile swim
Ride London 100 mile cycle
If you complete all three you get a bonus extra medal that looks like this. oooohhhh shiny!
Thank you to all the sponsors.
So far we have managed to raise ...
Β£320 for Dementia UK
Β£756 for Andys Man Club
Total: Β£1076 ππ
HI everyone, well that's the TCS London Marathon done and dusted.
It's amazing what you can do in 18 weeks and I hope a few people find this video inspiring. It's a little montage of the 18 week journey. (I hate to use the word journey, but I can't think of a better one).
Thank you to all those who donated and raised money for Andys Man Club. So far we have raised Β£716 and the money will help many men who struggle with their mental health.
Thanks for all your support during training for this marathon and now it's time to move on to the next challenge. β€οΈ x

Hi everyone, well it's getting close now and I completed my first official half marathon yesterday as a warm up for London.
Here's a few pics for you. I should be doing 15 miles next weekend so I've just got to take it easy now with 4 weeks to go.
I'll keep you updated. β€οΈ x
It's really starting to hurt now! I can't believe I just ran a half marathon on Southend beach, but it really hurts.
Getting it done. πͺ
Have a great day people. Stay positive! β€ x
This gym lark is easy! ππͺ
Well I didn't post anything about last week's parkrun as I got another personal best and presumed it was a fluke, but now I am on my 3rd week in a row with yet another PB. This week it was after running 6 miles pre-parkrun.
I decided to do Southend Parkrun this week which was a bit harder I felt, as it is undulating in places. The odd slope up and the odd one down. I am used to running on a flat surface at the Chalkwell parkrun.
Even so, I wasn't trying to run fast, but something is definitely pushing me in that direction. Who knows, by the end of the year I could be on a sub 30 minute 5k at this rate. That would be great if that happened. π€
Still on course. 8 miles yesterday, 9 next week and so on.
Current pace is on course for a sub 3hr half marathon and a sub 6 hour marathon. If it gets quicker now then it's a bonus, but I'm just focusing on distance now that I have a comfortable pace.
Onwards and upwards. πββοΈ
Sometimes you've got to stop looking for excuses and just do it!

A couple of great photos taken at yesterday's Chalkwell Beach parkrun. I clearly need to buy smaller clothes as everything just looks stupidly baggy on me now.
Credit to Harry Wootten for permission to use these.

It gets better and better. Sub 40 minute parkrun today and a new personal best or 38m 30s.
It also gives me a predicted half-marathon time of sub 3:00 hrs and a predicted Marathon finishing time of sub 6:00 hours which is where I wanted to be.
I'd like to get it down a little bit more to allow for toilet breaks etc. and still finish in under 6 hours for London, but the main aim now is to keep increasing the distance. 7.5 miles today including the park run.

Well it's been a long while since my last Parkrun. Actually a long time since I ran at all.
I started training in October and I was so pleased to see that I actually got a personal best. So it appears that training properly has actually made me fitter than I was 6 years ago. ππββοΈ
Thanks to all the volunteers at Chalkwell Beach parkrun for making is such a friendly, well organised event. I will certainly be back next week. β€οΈ
How did you start your day today?
