When He removes something from our lives, there is pain that comes from healing, just as if a surgeon had removed something from our bodies. We’re “better,” but it still hurts. I asked him to deeply salve whatever might be hurting your heart and extend His patience and grace to you while you wait for healing, restoration, clarity or any other need He is meeting in His time.

Proverbs 23 Amplified Bible (AMP)

On Life and Conduct
23 When you sit down to dine with a ruler,
Consider carefully what is [set] before you;
2
For you will put a knife to your throat
If you are a man of great appetite.
3
Do not desire his delicacies,
For it is deceptive food [offered to you with questionable motives].
4
Do not weary yourself [with the overwhelming desire] to gain wealth;
Cease from your own understanding of it.
5
When you set your eyes on wealth, it is [suddenly] gone.
For wealth certainly makes itself wings
Like an eagle that flies to the heavens.
6
Do not eat the bread of a selfish man,
Or desire his delicacies;
7
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he [in behavior—one who manipulates].
He says to you, “Eat and drink,”
Yet his heart is not with you [but it is begrudging the cost].

The morsel which you have eaten you will vomit up,
And you will waste your compliments.

Do not speak in the ears of a fool,
For he will despise the [godly] wisdom of your words.

Do not move the ancient landmark [at the boundary of the property]
And do not go into the fields of the fatherless [to take what is theirs],

For their Redeemer is strong and mighty;
He will plead their case against you.

Apply your heart to discipline
And your ears to words of knowledge.

Do not withhold discipline from the child;
If you [a]swat him with a reed-like rod [applied with godly wisdom], he will not die.

You shall [b]swat him with the reed-like rod
And rescue his life from Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead).

My son, if your heart is wise,
My heart will also be glad;

Yes, my heart will rejoice
When your lips speak right things.

Do not let your heart envy sinners [who live godless lives and have no hope of salvation],
But [continue to] live in the [reverent, worshipful] fear of the Lord day by day.

Surely there is a future [and a reward],

Listen, my son, and be wise,

Day 17!!! A Proverbs chapter a day in October! Guys....Wisdom is good for us...and without it we only know what we (think we) know! Verse 6 makes me smile, “Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.” Wow! I sure know this to be true!! Verse 17, (we all know this one!!), “A friend loves at all times!!” But did you know this? Verse 19, “He who loves a quarrel loves sin!” Y’all!! Ummm....maybe we need to be quiet more!! (Me!!) And I’ll share one more that stood out to me, verse 24, “ A discerning man keeps wisdom in view.” Share your faves from today!! Glad you’re with me still...this is good!💗

Day 16...a Proverbs a day!! I’m reading chapter 16 today, while I’m outside on the balcony listening to the ocean, in one of my favorite places!! There’s so much peace! Proverbs 16:7 says, “When a man’s ways are PLEASING to the Lord, he makes even his enemies live at peace with him!” It’s easy to have peace with those you don’t know well.....but it’s pleasing to the Lord when we have peace with those we DO know well (and maybe don’t like much!!)! Let’s all work on that!! And verse 24, “Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones!” Are my words sweet? Hmm. Y’all, there are so many amazing nuggets of wisdom in here!! I hope you’re still reading along! ✌🏼 💗

Proverbs 16 GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
Wisdom’s Blessings Come from the Lord
The plans of the heart belong to humans,
but an answer on the tongue comes from the Lord.
2 A person thinks all his ways are pure,
but the Lord weighs motives.
3 Entrust your efforts to the Lord,
and your plans will succeed.
4 The Lord has made everything for his own purpose,
even wicked people for the day of trouble.
5 Everyone with a conceited heart is disgusting to the Lord.
Certainly, such a person will not go unpunished.

6 By mercy and faithfulness, peace is made with the Lord.
By the fear of the Lord, evil is avoided.
7 When a person’s ways are pleasing to the Lord,
he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 Better a few possessions gained honestly
than many gained through injustice.
9 A person may plan his own journey,
but the Lord directs his steps.

10 When a divine revelation is on a king’s lips,
he cannot voice a wrong judgment.
11 Honest balances and scales belong to the Lord.
He made the entire set of weights.
12 Wrongdoing is disgusting to kings
because a throne is established through righteousness.
13 Kings are happy with honest words,
and whoever speaks what is right is loved.
14 A king’s anger announces death,
but a wise man makes peace with him.
15 When the king is cheerful, there is life,
and his favor is like a cloud bringing spring rain.

16 How much better it is to gain wisdom than gold,
and the gaining of understanding should be chosen over silver.
17 The highway of decent people turns away from evil.
Whoever watches his way preserves his own life.

18 Pride precedes a disaster,
and an arrogant attitude precedes a fall.
19 Better to be humble with lowly people
than to share stolen goods with arrogant people.

20 Whoever gives attention to the Lord’s word prospers,
and blessed is the person who trusts the Lord.
21 The person who is truly wise is called understanding,
and speaking sweetly helps others learn.
22 Understanding is a fountain of life to the one who has it,
but stubborn fools punish themselves with their stupidity.
23 A wise person’s heart controls his speech,
and what he says helps others learn.
24 Pleasant words are like honey from a honeycomb—
sweet to the spirit and healthy for the body.
