In this interview, I discuss my journey from classical musician, teacher, to wellness artist and sound meditation leader. Dr. Anita Phillips talks about the vagus nerve as being the garden of Eden inside our bodies. When activated, the vagus nerve puts our body into parasympathetic state and regulates our body and emotions. Part of the vagus nerve is activated by sound. On evenings like this I walk around head up looking at another beautiful anatomy of a sunset. No one else seems to notice or care. But to me, it’s the cosmos again, for a billionth time, with another love letter. Maybe a little more orange, or yellow or with wispier shapes today, but always the message is the same. And I am reminded to embrace it. 💛💛💛

Sound therapy is a vehicle for becoming more present and mindful.
The frequencies played on sound bowls can help your brain shift from alpha (busy mind) to delta (relaxed but present)
The process is called entrainment. Sound baths are experienced differently by different people. Some see colors, others visualize blissful scenes in nature, while some are so deeply relaxed that they fall asleep. Curious? Set up your private session or find out how you can find a group session.

Why would a professional classical musician get into sound therapy? At first I thought it was too simple to be effective. I was wrong.
Here’s the thing. #
Everyone has their preferred genre of music. I like classical music. But maybe you don’t. I want to harness the power of music to help people make emotional shifts and experience something transcendent. But,
I can write beautiful music that you may never connect with. However, sound is sound. We are vibrational beings in a vibrational world. Our bodies respond to sound naturally. And regardless of what genre of music you may prefer, the frequencies used in sound therapy will have benefits. Better sleep, more relaxation, less stress, lower blood pressure,

Jacob Rock is a 19 year old with severe autism which doesn’t allow him to speak. At the age of 16, he began to use assisted technology and told his Dad that he had a 70 minute symphony in his head. With the help of a on LA based composer, the symphony was written and tonight performed by students from USC Thornton. I had the honor to attend this concert with his neurologist and the pioneer in the field of brain research and autism, Dr. Margaret Beaumann and my friend Susan Stroebel. I was left speechless, almost in tears for much of the performance. The language of music allowed this young man to express a wealth of emotions and finally break the barrier of silence that he has lived with his whole life. He had a lot to say, and for 70 minutes we all experienced life from his perspective. It was really an unforgettable experience. Here are a few of those moments.

Music can help you shift emotionally. I call it a BlissShift!

Have you heard of this major study, which revealed the power of music to help shape our emotions and wellbeing?

In 2020, the British Academy of Sound Therapy released results after they tested 7,581 participants about the effects of listening to music.

The study found the optimum listening time of 13 minutes – and many benefits were reported, including ‘decreased muscle tension, negative thoughts disappearing, feeling peaceful and contented and being able to sleep better’.

Music of a slow tempo, simple melody and no lyrics was also identified as the most effective.
