Shenanigans! If you watch closely in this video, you can see some partner swapping happening between two of the couples! The two gents are swinging at the beginning, and the two ladies are paired up as well. You'll see them switch around a few times during the dance! This is a pretty advanced addition that you'll see more often at bigger dance weekend events - it was great fun to watch here at our own dance!
Last dance of the night this past Saturday, and look at that crowd! Usually the number of people winds down as it gets later, but not this time - everyone was still dancing and having a great time all the way to the end! Thank you to all for joining us for such a great dance!
What a fun dance we had last night! The snow sure didn't stop us from having a great time! Thanks to everyone who braved the weather to come dance with us. For everyone who had to miss it - don't worry, we'll be back on February 10th! Same time, same place, and we hope you can join us! (February dance event and info will go up within the next few days.)
A few of our dancers attended the New Year's Eve contra dance in Lansing this past weekend! Music was by The Johns ( Ruby John Music ) with calling by Gaye Fifer. The dance was co-sponsored by Looking Glass Music & Arts Association and Ten Pound Fiddle Concerts and Dances. They have some great dances if you're ever in that area! Enjoy this video of the dancing to count down the new year!

We had the incredible opportunity to put on a contra demonstration at the Northwestern Michigan Fair on August 12th! Dave Goodwin called to music by The Johns, and a group of our more experienced dancers put on a beautiful demonstration right in front of The Broad Stand. We had several people from the crowd join us, which was wonderful! More pictures and videos of this cool event coming soon, but for now, enjoy this video of the dancing!
