Ukrainian Jersey City is excited to host our 4th annual charity Jersey City Vyshyvanka Run/Walk!

The Ukrainian population in Jersey City has grown over the past 2 years. We are delighted to encourage all JC Ukrainians and local Residents to support us during this difficult time when Ukraine is fighting for its freedom. Let’s showcase our unity to the whole world, promote our freedom, and celebrate life!
Our traditional and patriotic Vyshyvanka Run is not only a significant event for local JC Ukrainians but also for our friends worldwide.

Follow the history behind the Ukrainian tradition of decorating pysanky and learn to make beautiful traditional Ukrainian Easter eggs/pysanky with acclaimed artist Sofika Zielyk

Sofika Zielyk is an extremely accomplished creator of pysanky, eggs with ornately batiked shells that are a form of Ukrainian folk art that has been practiced (traditionally only by women) for centuries. Though primarily associated with Easter now, pysanky have many older pagan uses as tokens of good fortune, regeneration, and protection.

During the workshop, Sofika will teach you how to use the pysanka art tools (kistka, wax, dyes) and will help you make your own personalized pysanka. Pattern meanings, fun historical facts about pysanka art, and experiences that have emerged around Ukrainian Easter eggs will be shared during the workshops — fun time guaranteed! Women should not have to face sexism, discrimination, or violence!
Have you ever noticed how society still dictates who women should be and how they should live? From when to give birth and get married, to what length of skirts to wear and what compensation to receive for their work compared to men in similar positions...
That’s why March 8th is an annual opportunity to raise awareness about gender equality and the importance of creating a society where every woman and man can fulfill their potential without constraints or stereotypes. This day serves as a reminder that women still face many unresolved issues and unrecognized rights. So, what women (including those who identify themselves) need is not just flowers, but a continued fight for our uniqueness and equality!

March 8th is International Women’s Rights Day— not a celebration of spring, beauty, femininity, or flowers once a year!
March 8th is traditionally a day to honor women who died fighting for rights. Women who have made significant contributions to our access to education, rights to children, the right to vote and hold office, building careers, leaving home without male escorts, and earning money.

In whole, WE EXCEEDED OUR GOAL AND WERE ABLE TO RAISE almost $17K which is enough for two vehicles, one of which is for the 14th Squadron Medics.
