I decided to add some dresses to my wardrobe over the summer, and I loved them! So obviously I need some fall/winter dresses now too.
I used the PDF Ellie and Mac Sewing Pattern Group Wrapped in Love dress pattern for my first full maxi length dress. The fabric is double brushed poly from Joann. I added some length to the bodice for my amazonian-lengthed torso, and rounded the bottom hem on the crossover skirt pieces.
The pattern is part of the weekly sale at (affiliate) https://www.ellieandmac.com/products/wrapped-in-love-dress-pattern?aff=997

PDF Ellie and Mac Sewing Pattern Group has just come out with the Kids Flare & Straight Pants pattern. We tested the straight fit option, and my guy said they were so comfortable, and he looks adorable in them.

The Dutchie kids jacket from Ellie & Mac. I knew I wanted this pattern the moment I saw it. I had made myself a bomber jacket with Neverending story fabric a while back (pre-covid, what even is real life?), and after we watched the movie recently, he said he NEEDED one to match.
The pattern is made for a mix of wovens and knits. But I didn't want to do that. So it's 100% knit, and it looks and fits great. I'm so pleased with it, and he's worn it every day since he got it. 🥰
The pattern is currently on sale for Wacky Wednesday in the website. Check it out!

The newest release from PDF Ellie and Mac Sewing Pattern Group is the curvy fit Geometric Color-Block Top. It's joining the recently released straight fit counterpart as a fun way to change up a traditional raglan.
I used this astrology rayon spandex from Joann that I've been coveting, and I don't usually love pink next to my skin tone, but I love how this came out.

I rarely sew for anyone but my son and myself, but I got to sew for Eddie's friend, Zoey. She likes dresses and ruffles, so I got to play around a bit. I modified the Bookclub top pattern from PDF Ellie and Mac Sewing Pattern Group and used fabric from Moon Beam Textile Company and Joann fabrics. Love the results. 😊

It's been a while since I made and posted anything. And all of a sudden I've made 4 things in about a week. It's been busy, and they'll get posted and patterns release. 😅
This is the newest release from PDF Ellie and Mac Sewing Pattern Group, the Assymetrical Cinch Top. I made mine in double brushed poly, and it is so comfy. The construction is way easier and quicker than you might expect, and it was actually super enjoyable to sew.
The pattern is on sale this week for release, and I'd so appreciate if you used my affiliate link to check it out. I get a small commission on any sale using my link. 🥰

It's been a minute since I sewed anything up. I knew I wanted something really cozy when I saw this fabric, and the Ellie and Mac Cuddle TUnic ended up being the perfect pattern for it. It is so soft and cozy. I'm living in this for the foreseeable future.

The fabric is from Joann, and the pattern is the cuddle tunic from PDF Ellie and Mac Sewing Pattern Group. Last chance to get it for a dollar for Wacky Wednesday! The newest release from PDF Ellie and Mac Sewing Pattern Group is the super cute Kid's Sew Scrappy top. It's amazing at using the small scrap fabrics, and the color blocking was a hit with this little guy. It's on sale for release through Sunday.
I used cotton interlock (dinosaurs), rayon spandex (blue), and a cotton blend (green), all from Joann.

So this ensemble is a bit of a mouthful. I got to sew up the Cruella fabric from the current Mean Girls preorder round from Moon Beam Textile Company, and I had the idea to make a dramatic Cruella cape. The Panel is cotton lycra, and the coordinate is french terry. I used a coordinating short pile faux fur (from fabric .com) as the liner. For the pattern, I tried a Twig + Tale Chat pattern for the first time: the Traveller Cape. It's an easy but well drafted pattern, and I'm super pleased with the results. The only change I made to the pattern was to lengthen and widen the hood to make it a little more dramatic and give some space for the faux fur.
The top underneath is the Amanda Top from Halla Patterns in a wine colored french terry, also from fabric .com. I've had this pattern since it released (probably like 2 years) and I'm so in love with it. It came out so well and I love it and I need 2 or 3 or 8 more immediately.

The newest release from PDF Ellie and Mac Sewing Pattern Group is the super versatile Puff Sleeve Peplum, Dress, & Bodysuit Pattern. It comes in so many versions. The cross front is available in peplum, dress, and bodysuit options. The bodysuit also has a scoop or faux turtleneck. The sleeves are gathered and ruched for an extra sassy look.
I made mine from a heavy double brushed poly, using the cross over peplum options.
My affiliate link is below, and I get a small commission if you use it, at no cost to you! Thank you if you choose to use it! 🥰

The Big Damn Heroes round is still open for preorder through the end of August! I used the cotton lycra base to make this Hollie top from Halla Patterns.
I already put in one order for this round, and I have at least 2 more yards to order, and I might not be done then.... 🙈 I need so much of this pretty fabric. 😅

You Can't Take the Sky From Me- Firefly Fabric from Moon Beam Textile Co. | Sew Below the Willow Tree 20/08/2020

Earth-That-Was is a memory. We terraformed new worlds. The outer planets are a wild west but they're less in Alliance control, and if a captain can keep a ship flying, he might just have a slice of freedom. I LOVE Firefly. It's a beautiful little show, with amazing characters. Nathan Fillion is still on my list. It gets rewatched every year or so. [ 478 more words ]

The Firefly round is open at Moon Beam Textile Company! I. AM. SO. EXCITED.
I love Firefly so much (we don't talk about Serenity. Didn't happen). I love the characters and the ship. It's a shame it didn't get more time (again, there's no movie).

I used the Thrilling Heroics panel to make this workout set, and I'm geeking out that I get to channel the Hero of Canton when I work out. Add some Zoe in there, and I think I can handle pretty much anything. 💪
This round is running through the end of the month and features some amazing prints and fun panels in several bases. This set is the Athletic with a cotton lycra pattern.

The Gothic Circus round is open over at Moon Beam Textile Company and these coordinates are giving me life!
I self drafted a corset and some spats, and then sewed a 1/2 circle skirt and a peasant top to round out this circus/ can-can ensemble. The corset isn't perfect, and cheese and rice it was a freaking journey. But I'm so proud of how it all came out.
The peasant top is the Boho from Halla Patterns, and the fabric is open through the end of the month.
I followed a corset tutorial that I'll link in the comments. For the spats I wrapped my calves in saran wrap and duct tape to make a pattern. 😅

I made the Hourglass from Made by Runi patterns - sew and tell. It's drafted at dress length, but I chopped some length off to get this top/tunic length, and I'm smitten.
I made the pattern alongside a few amazing makers as part of The Fitting Experiment. We all make the pattern and discuss our different fit changes and how the pattern fared across the board.
My blog post is linked here on my page, so go check it out if you want to know what my process looked like. 😘😘

More of the Whimsical Wildlife round from Moon Beam Textile Company.
I love foxes, so I had to do this particular panel, ave then why not match. 🤗
We're both wearing Discoverer Tees from PDF Ellie and Mac Sewing Pattern Group.
The wildlife found closes at the end of the month.
Link to the round in the comments. 💙

As a 4 year old, animals make up a big part of his day. 😅 So of course we had to sew some of the Whimsical Wildlife round from Moon Beam Textile Company up for him.
He loves his "Ursula Kitty" shirt, and I love the colors on the panel and the print, and those stripes are amazing. I made something for me too, and we kind of match and I love it. I'll show that next.
This round is open through the end of the month.

The Animeverse preorder is almost over at Moon Beam Textile Company! There's only a few days left to get these gorgeous prints and panels, inspired by Cowboy Bebop, Dragon Ball, and Sailor Moon.
I used the Abbie Chemise from House Morrighan Makers Lounge.
I feel like the sign off from cowboy bebop could totally be a little flirty, so I took this panel that direction with the borderline lingerie top. I color blocked a little to make the quote work but also keep the paneled bodice.

The preorder can be found here through May 31. https://moonbeamtextileco.com/collections/monthly-pre-order
