Caring for Ivy

Ivy has been stable these past few months. She contracted COVID-19 a few weeks ago but has fully recovered now. Please continue to pray for God's healing touch on Ivy and for strength for Simon and Ryan.

Updates about Ivy's current hospital stay.

What has been found out about Ivy's elevated heart rate is that her catheter was blocked and the increased pressure caused her heart rate to go up. They changed it to a new one last night and Ivy has been doing way better since then. The medical staff still work on other check-up for Ivy.

Dear all, Ivy was admitted to hospital due to elevated heart rate yesterday afternoon. She may have UTI possibly. Pray for doctors' wisdom and God's healing upon Ivy. Thank you.

Dear friends, please pray for God will open the door for possible next rehab center for Ivy. Ivy needs a different rehab center where she can begin the next phase of the rehabilitation, which is beyond the capacity of current rehab center. We believe that the Lord will continue to lead the way to prepare Ivy a good rehab center and also continue to heal her! Praise the Lord!

Ivy has finished the de-cannulation assessment successfully and she will be discharged from Edwards Hospital today. Thank you for the prayer.

From Simon(11pm last night):

Thanks for the prayers! Just left the hospital. Ivy’s vitals looked good after removing the tube for almost 5 hours. The whole assessment lasts 24 hours. Hope the Lord is willing to let Ivy to wearn off the trach and begin the next charter of the recovery. Praise the Lord!

Ivy is going to Edward Hospital to do the assessment for over-night de-cannulation this morning at 9:30am. She just arrived Edwards Hospital.

Please pray for the Lord to lead Ivy to pass the assessment if this is the Lord’s plan! Praise the Lord!

From Simon:

Ivy’s doctor is sending a referral for de-cannulation. The social worker will call the Edward Hospital to see if they can arrange Ivy to go there for the assessment. If she can breath totally on her own for a day, they will discharge her on Tuesday and come back without the tracheotomy. Please pray for the mighty Lord to lead the way and let Ivy to pass the assessment! Praise the Lord!

Ivy is being discharged today and will be back to the rehab center. Please continue to pray for God's healing. Thank you!

From Simon:

Ivy is still staying in the hospital due to the UTI. Her heart rate and blood pressure could go high if she doesn’t get the new medication. Please pray for the lord’s healing hand upon Ivy! Praise the Lord! Thank you!

Dear all, Ivy was admitted to the hospital last Friday due to a high heart rate. She remains in the hospital and is being treated for a body infection. Currently, her blood pressure and heart rate have returned to normal levels. Please pray for the wisdom of the medical team to accurately diagnose Ivy's condition, and pray for God's healing and comfort upon her. Please continue to pray for strength and comfort for Simon and the family.

Thank you for the prayer and praise the Lord that Ivy's surgery went smoothly this afternoon according to the doctor. Please continue to ask God our heavenly father to heal Ivy and new shunt will work well.

From Simon:

Ivy is getting a surgery tomorrow at 1:00pm.
The Neurosurgeon said that the size of the Ventricle has not decreased much and there isn’t a point on keep waiting. They are going to put a shunt back to Ivy’s head tomorrow at 1:00pm. Please pray for the Lord’s healing hand upon Ivy and the new shunt can help Ivy from having the hydrocephalus! Praise the Lord.

Ivy remains in the ICU and continues to be monitored for her brain fluid level. Please continue to pray that the EVD will work properly to drain the brain fluid. And please pray for God's healing on Ivy.

After the shunt replacement on this past Monday. However, the new shunt is not draining the fluid well. Ivy had a procedure to install an EVD on the back of her head on Wednesday evening to drain out the extra fluid. Please continue to pray for Ivy that the extra fluid can be drained successfully and the doctor can correct the issues with the shunt.

Thank you for the prayer! The The surgery went well yesterday. They will do a scan today to confirm the new shunt is working well

From Simon:
Ivy is scheduled to have a shunt replacement surgery at 1:00pm on Monday. Please pray for the Lord to lead the medical team so she can have a smooth operation and recovery after! Praise the Lord

Ivy had a fever caused by a UTI and was sent to the ER at 3am today. Her fever has now gone down. At the same time, the neurosurgeon would like to replace the shunt at the back of Ivy's head with a new one, probably early next week.

Yesterday, Ivy also had a minor fall and was sent to the hospital for an MRI and X-ray in the afternoon. No pressing issues were found, and she was sent back to the rehab center last night.

Please pray for God's healing upon Ivy, upcoming surgery, and recovery from the UTI. Thank you.

Updates from Simon: The rehab and the ENT doctor are working on getting Ivy to the hospital for the assessment. Please pray for the Lord will lead the way and let Ivy to successfully pass the assessment when the time comes.

Updates: Praise the Lord! Ivy’s temperature is back to normal. She’s been prescribed antibiotics now. Thanks a lot for the prayers!

More update: From X-ray, her lung is clear. The medical team is looking for other reasons.

From Simon: Dear brothers and sisters, Ivy is having a fever this morning. Please pray for the mighty Lord to stop the fever and give the wisdom to the medical team to figure out the cause of the fever. Praise the Lord!

Please continue for Ivy's recovery. Please pray for God opens the door in His timing for Ivy to be able have assessment of speaking valve in the hospital in the near future. Thank you!

Ivy has returned to her room few days ago. Please continue to pray for God's healing upon her and strength for Simon and the family.

Praise the Lord that Simon has fully recovered from Covid and he is able to visit Ivy. Please continue to pray Ivy's full recovery from her coughing and will return to her room soon.

Ivy is still coughing and will continue to stay in her current shared room. She will not move back her own original single room until her condition improves.

Simon is recovering well from Covid and Ryan has not been contracted with covid. Currently Ivy is staying a different room and recovering. Ivy is going back to her own room on this Friday. Please continue to pray for full recovery of Simon and Ivy from Covid. Thank you.

Simon was just tested positive in COVID this afternoon. His symptoms are mild and he is feeling better already. Please pray for Ryan stay healthy and be ready for school next week.
