Derealization is a mental state that makes you feel like you are disconnected or detached from your surroundings. This can feel similar to being in a dream like state or feeling like you are out of your body.
This can be a common symptom in trauma and anxiety.
Although this can feel very scary, one way however to manage derealization is to not fight the feeling, sometimes the more you panic and try to fight it the worse it can feel. Feelings come and go so try and let the feelings pass naturally, because they will pass.
Have you experienced derealization? How did you manage it?
This shall be my new SUDs 😆
Yes so much pressure on a young 😔 . How fantastic would this be!
Safety alert: Brushing for Life free toothbrushes
Has your child received a free toothbrush as part of the Brushing for Life programme? If so, please make sure your child stops using it and please dispose of it.
Brushing For Life is a national initiative aiming to improve oral healthcare among children. Free packs, which include a brush and toothpaste, have been given out to parents and carers of children aged up to three.
A supplier of a similar Brushing for Life pack in the north of England has issued a product recall as their toothbrushes pose a choking risk.
There have been no reports of children being harmed by the toothbrushes. However, we are recommending that parents in Derby who have received a Brushing for Life pack err on the side of caution and do not allow their child to use it.
We will provide an update once we have spoken to our local supplier.
UPDATE 01.12.2023: our health visiting team has now received the replacement toothbrushes. They will be handed out in clinics and reviews. Thank you to parents, carers and children for their patience and understanding.
