Crestline EV Marching Bulldogs

Thank you to everyone who came out for Memorial Day! Great job, everyone!

And just like that, OMEA Large Group Contest is done. We had a nerve-wrecking, but positive experience at Oak Harbor High School today. Thank you to the four judges who critiqued us today. Patricia Meeks, Roy Young, Wendy Davis, and Rob Cintron! Here are some take aways.......

-Band kids love other band kids
-I need to be more relaxed with my body language
-I need to change the process of how we tune Timpani
-We need better equipment
-The kids play better out of school than in
-It was so cool seeing the "team" come together
-Blend needs to be better
-Overall confidence needs to increase
-We need to work on sight reading more
-I don't want to lose our seniors 😭
-Pioneer is not allowed to take our kids anymore!! (This is a big problem for the band program at Crestline)
-Thank you Mr. Gearhart for coming to the school and opening the kitchen doors so we can have lunch!!
-Thank you Rick Dowell for Driving
-Thank you Kitchen staff for providing lunches!!

Final thoughts...
- Today is one of those days that I look at the band and notice how they interact with each other, and listen to how they play to think about how far they have come along. I am in complete amazement and awe of the band they have chosen to become and how much growth they have done in my tenure at Crestline. We always look back to how they could not tell me the difference between a quarter note and an eighth note, and now they are the point of going to these contests to receive a rating in order to establish themselves in the band world. These contests are a true assessment of how the kids are doing, and a way to receive feedback in order to take the next step in our learning. I sincerely hope this type of learning that we are doing will transfer to their everyday lives because they are killing it! I am also very excited to continue the growth that we are doing and I look forward to making even more great music with these kids.
-As one of the judges, Patricia Meeks said, " you took a big step forward today and I hope this event motivates each of you to stay👏in👏 band👏 AND challenge yourself to practice at home. You are on your way to greater success!!
