Goats and sheep deploy their appetites to save Barcelona from wildfires! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘

Wildfire-prone areas are handed over to grazing animals, who chomp and trample over dry vegetation that could otherwise accumulate as fuel for fires. They will usually leave behind a landscape dotted with open spaces that can act as firebreaks.

Other places, such as in California, Portugal and British Columbia, goats, horses and cattles were credited for helping in decreasing the risk of wildfires in their areas.

Research shows that it is effective to pair targeted grazing with other wildfire prevention methods. Although a researcher has said that it is not a miracle solution, they have acknowledged that it helps landscapes be resilient to fire.

It must be fun to munch-all-you-can while saving your land! ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒณ

Wild mammals are making a comeback in Europe thanks to conservation efforts! ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฆฌ

Humans have preferentially hunted bigger mammals from millions of years ago to today. But it doesn't have to be that way and the bison shows it.

Wild Bisons went extinct by the early 20th century with the number of individuals in captivity being only in tens. But over the last 50 years, these furry, horned mammals have made a comeback. By the end of 2021, there were almost 10,000 European Bisons with some in captivity and others in the wild.
