Things have been mega busy this past year in my freelance work, and I’ve found making time to create content here has fallen way down the list, not least because I find it really difficult to do. WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY. This year the focus is on plastic pollution. Small acts and changes in our shopping habits make big changes. I've been using organic cotton buds which have a paper stick by Macdonald & Taylor, and more recently taking a reusable pint glass to theatre and music venues (that's just how I roll). It's easy to feel overwhelmed by how much there is to tackle but starting with a few small things it becomes easier to add to. This picture was taken by Justin Hofman.
HOMEWORK. I've only got one pair of trousers left without a hole or rip in so this weekend I will be mostly repairing. I made this little step by step guide to darning those holes that appear- get em' before they get bigger!
FEARLESS!
Roald Dahl said "the more risks you allow children to take, the better they learn to take care of themselves". This little scruff leapt out of the box twice today whilst not able to fly, and despite it's protests I put it back in the bird box. I feel it might be an insight to my yet to be tested parenting style 😅might need to look at that...
Great event coming up! See below reasons as to why you should be attending ...

Some people think that because women got the right to vote 100 years ago, that the equal pay act was passed in 1970, and because it was 2010 when an equality act said it’s wrong to discriminate based on gender, race, age, sexual orientation (to name just a few), that we live in an equal world.
Did you know that in a 2017 survey, girls (of all ages) felt overwhelmingly that subjects like economics and politics are more for boys than girls? Did you know that su***de is the biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK? Did you know that over a third of female students in mixed schools have experienced harassment? Did you know that boys and girls brains are the same, but by the age of around 7 they’ll have received 1000s of messages telling them just how different they are?
Equality starts in childhood. What we say to, and how we treat our children will shape their world. If you’d like to shape it into a more equal one, then you might like to come along to the next Raising Humans event we’re hosting on 5th June. In December last year we held a panel event where and talked about why they think equality in childhood is important. On the 5th June they’ll be discussing it again, but this time we’ll also be eating the amazing food from Susan Foynes, chef extraordinaire and founder of (and as many of you know, co-founder of ). Drinks and canapés on arrival, a delicious main course followed by fascinating conversation and pudding. Please click on the link to secure your ticket. This event (being held in the wonderful ) is very limited in numbers so grab your seat at the table quickly! Click on the link in the bio to buy your ticket. .
It's a miserable day outside but here's something to be cheerful about-30% off at the online store. Get in before it goes.
On this day, 24th April 2013 at Rana Plaza, Bangladesh, 1134 people lost their lives and a further 2500 were injured when the garment factory they were working in collapsed. Consumers have the power to demand more from fashion companies to guarantee workers are safe and respected in the workplace. I'm proud to work with to produce the Kith+Kin range, you can visit their page to see . Image by who started the conversation and continue to advocate for better conditions in the fashion industry.

ASLEEP ON THE JOB.
Whoa! So it's been a long time since I last posted, apologies for the silence. I have been busy, busy with my fashion freelance work and as most self employed people know, you gotta make hay when the sun shines. Work is at a manageable pace now so I've got a bit of time back to check in regularly. Hope you've all been well. Lx.
Great blog by a great person!

All this week you can get 20% off at the online store with the code NOV20. All orders include a freebie set of milestone cards just a little thanks from me. Offer finishes midnight 2/12/17.
D A R N*I T. This is actually a pretty bad example as i'm a bit slap dash about my repairs but there are some beautiful examples online. There's a whole lot of squares promoting discounts and there's a few squares in my feed saying don't shop, mend & make. This is a real dilemma for me, I'm acutely aware of how much stuff we buy needlessly because we've been seduced by money off and how infrequently we bother to repair but I am also a small business owner trying to make clothes in a responsible way. I've decided to take part in the discount mania and offer 20% off, firstly as a small thanks to all the rad people who have followed me and took part in/support the comp. Secondly, with each purchase I include a how to guide on extending the life of clothes. This hopefully inspires you to get crafty with your garms. The checkout code is NOV20, runs Fri-Sun.
WHY IT MATTERS. I've worked in fashion a while now and am very familiar with it's appetite for exploitation in the pursuit of profit. When set up Kith+Kin one of core requirements was that manufacturers I work with have social compliance in place. This essentially means there is no child labour, no forced labour, no discrimination, workers are free to associate and have the right to form collectives, are paid fairly, paid for overtime, and work in a safe environment. GOTS and SAI8000 certification are top external awards for ensuring your garment was made by workers who are respected and protected, look out for these when purchasing online. Want to know why this matters... Watch the trailer for 'The True Cost'.
Today we remember and honour our trans sisters/siblings who lost their lives to transphobic violence and discrimination, and recognise the continued threat of violence to those who live out their truth. Our genders and the way we express them evolve over our lives and as a feminist I want to make sure I'm building a future fit for everyone. I made this t-shirt to raise funds for Sisters Uncut, a group who fight for life saving domestic violence services, including specialist services for LGBT* folk. As the amazing Flavia Dzodan said "my feminism will be intersectional or it will be bu****it". Tee can be found at www.neon.teemill.co.uk
Last day to enter the comp for a rad t-shirt. Has been great getting to know other parents supporting the amazing campaign run by For info on how to enter head over to

I did a little Q&A with about Kith+Kin, head over to her blog to discover why gender neutrality and sustainability are important to me and what approach I take to make Kith+Kin unique. www.musingmum.co.uk
This video beautifully communicates why we must move beyond the limiting and often damaging ideas of maleness/femaleness.
Words with pictures, my favourite kind of book!
FRIYAY!
I did a little Q&A with Musing Mum to talk about how I got started and why there is an emphasis on gender neutral in my work. Also.... the competition on Instagram is still running, get yourselves over there to find out how to enter.
