According to the people in Piddig, basi has a bitter yet sweet flavor which is very like of the people in there. It was a staple among their lives due to its integral part in many Ilocano rituals. THE TOPOGRAPHY OF PIDDIG CHUCH

One way to understand the unique template of the heritage cemetery of Piddig, Ilocos Norte is by viewing the town's famous church. Although featured a lot, there is hardly any mention of its pronounced topography.

Piddig is situated on hilly terrain, and the now-restored church was erected on a hill. Thus, to reach the church grounds, one has to climb a broad flight of steps. The grassy patio is also surrounded by sloping sides topped by brick walls. This hilly area is also higher towards the rear of the church, which is still filled with natural vegetation.

Here's a bonus: if you plan to visit the church of Piddig, ask to see the old watering holes for horses. They are built into the ground and lined with brickwork. They also show, perhaps, that the friars knew how thirsty their animals were because of the uphill climb—don't you think?
