SOUTH STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TAILGATE: STANDING ON BUSINESS
We are excited to share that our fans will have an opportunity to tailgate for the South State Championship on Friday, November 24, 2023, starting at 1:00 p.m. We are bringing two of Fayette’s hottest DJs, DJ Chris Cool and DJ Cool Sherman, to rock the crowd. We will also have special performances and other special guests in attendance.

CTE STUDENTS VISIT HEALTH FAIR 🥳
On October 19, 2023, Ms. Shalonda Brinkley's Contemporary Health students observed the Breast Cancer Awareness Health Fair at the Jefferson County Comprehensive Health Center.
Students were able to obtain complimentary health screenings, food, and visit numerous vendors. This trip was scheduled to supplement the students' classroom education.
On October 18, 2023, the students from Ms. Brinkley's Nutrition and Wellness class of the Jefferson County Career and Technical Education department, visited the Human Sciences department at Alcorn State University.
The students toured the Alcorn State University Child Development Learning Center. The department's faculty, staff, and students presented the program of studies available in two areas: Human Development and Family Science, and Food Nutrition Community Health Sciences.
Students gained knowledge about many employment opportunities through the completion of the program of study.
CHANCERY CLERK VISITS CLASSROOM 🥳
Ms. Serena King, the Chancery Clerk of Jefferson County, visited Ms. Brinkley's Resource Management class. Ms. King introduced herself and explained her position as the chancery clerk to the students.
Ms. King was invited to address the students on how, individual financial business can become public record, in some cases. King educated students on the definition of delinquent taxes and the procedures undertaken by the chancery clerk's office to inform taxpayers, along with the ensuing repercussions if taxpayers fail to take appropriate measures. Furthermore, Ms. King conducted a question-and-answer session with the students and rewarded those who successfully answered the review questions.
Ms. Brinkley personally expresses gratitude to Ms. King for accepting such a task at such short notice, and Ms. Brinkley intends to arrange a visit to the courthouse for the students to familiarize them with the various offices and politicians located there.
On Tuesday, October 31,2023, the health science students welcomed Mr. Matthew Greer, RN CCRN TCRN. Mr. Matthew Greer is a flight nurse for UMMC’s AirCare. UMMC’s AirCare services the entire state of Mississippi as well as the neighboring states. Greer shared his vast knowledge and experiences with the students and hopefully ignited a few interests in the profession. Students gained new exposure and were elated to have Mr. Greer.

Welding Program completes Class Project 💛
The welding program completed their class project. The students fabricated, cut, and welded a headstone mold of a teddy bear. The students really enjoyed this project. Mr. Anderson stated that the program has plenty more projects in store.

Congratulations,to our CTE scholars who mastered the WorkKeys skills on Progress Learning last week.
The ACT WorkKeys assessment is an evaluation tool that measures skills required in the workplace and indicates your learning capabilities and projected job performance.
Our goal is to incentivize our students who perform well on their lessons each week. Keep up the good work! 🧡

The seniors had an awesome time today, at the Homecoming Tailgate on the Co-Lin Community College campus in Natchez, MS. Students visited different tables, toured the campus, and played games, while enjoying their lunch and snowballs.

JCCTE Programs tours Southwest MS Community College ❤️💙
On October 11th & 13th, 2023, the Jefferson County Career and Technical Education programs traveled to the Southwest Mississippi Community College to explore their career and technical education programs.
Career and Technical programs are designed for individual who are preparing to seek employment after completion of the program. Individuals who plan to transfer to a four year institution should request that institution evaluate those technical courses and determine whether they would be accepted for transfer.
Special courses are offered when the demand and interest are shown for such courses. Evening classes are offered in any of the technical courses when it becomes evident that there is sufficient demand (a minimum of 10 students).

EARLY DISMISSAL/REPORT CARD ANNOUNCEMENT
Dear Parents and Scholars:
We will have an early dismissal on Thursday, October 19, 2023. Students will be dismissed at 12:05 p.m. Report cards will be issued to parents from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at each school.
Parents will also have an opportunity to conference with teachers.
Benjamin Franklin said, “An investment in knowledge pays the best dividends.” Let's continue to invest in our children as we continue our quest to be an A-rated district.
College Fair at Co-Lin 💙
On October 4, 2023, the Jefferson County Career and Technical Center and Jefferson County High School transported juniors and seniors to the college fair at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Natchez, MS. Thank you to the universities, community colleges, and military recruiters that participated!
Students had an awesome time and received imperative information that will aid in their future success.

CTE Programs Hosted Annual Induction Ceremony❤️
Jefferson County Career and Technical Education programs hosted an induction ceremony for the following student organizations: DECA, FFA, HOSA, NTHS, FCCLA, SkillsUSA, and TSA. Each organization gave the purpose, pledge, and etc.
Special thanks to our Keynote Speaker, Dr. Adrian Hammitte, for his informative message about helping our students plan for the future. He gave students the tools to success,which included how they should P.L.A.N : P-Prepare, L-Be Lifelong Learners, A- Achieve, and N-Never Give Up.
Director, Dr. LaRondrial Barnes, presented Dr. Hammitte with a token of appreciation.
Miss CTC, Destiny Queen and Miss CTC Attendant, Tiara McGee, did an awesome job being the program guides.

Miss Jefferson County Career and Technical Center-Destiny Queen
Destiny Takyia Queen is the sophisticated 16 -year-old daughter of Jennifer Mays and Charlie Queen.Destiny is a junior at Jefferson County High School and Jefferson County Career and Technical Center.
Destiny is a member of the DECA club and National Technical Honor Society. Destiny spends her free time braiding hair for a living. After high school, Destiny plans to attend Hinds Community College to become an Ultrasound Technician.
Destiny's favorite scripture is, “Don't be conformed to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may figure out what god will is." Roman 12:2
Miss Jefferson County Career and Technical Center Attendant - Tiara McGee
Tiara McGee is an outstanding junior at Jefferson County High School and Jefferson County Career and Technical School. Tiara is the wise and unique daughter of April Snyder and Steven McGee. Tiara currently has three beautiful sisters and two amazing brothers.
Tiara’s hobbies include spending time with friends and family, volunteering, shopping, and going to rodeos.
Tiara plans to attend Mississippi State University, and major in Pre-Veterinary. She also plans to join their rodeo team and pursue her barrel racing career. The motto she lives by is, “Don't sit down and wait for the opportunities to come;Get up and make them.” -Madam C.J. Walker

Cyber Foundations is Taking Care of Business ! 📝
The future is looking very promising for our Cyber Foundations I students in Ms. Thompson’s class!
This students were dressed for their business meeting. A business meeting is a gathering of two or more people for the purpose of making decisions or discussing company objectives and operations.
It is safe to say our scholars know how to lead, organize, and participate in a successful business meeting. Their tasks included coming together to discuss business(problems, updates, celebrations) within their business. They were responsible for creating agendas, meeting minutes, sign-in sheets, roles, action steps, & dressing for business.
These students did an exceptional job! Things are looking up for our future leaders!
