Today's episode goes back to 2013 in a Flashback Interview with Jerome Fontamillas of Switchfoot.
The band had just released a documentary titled "Fading West" which also happens to be the title of their-then forthcoming 9th album. He tells us about the unique experience they're giving fans on that tour as well as finding new ways to connect with an audience. We even got to chat a little bit about surfing which the band did a lot of when filming their documentary.

We chat about how the website started as well as the books the cult classic spawned.
Ironically, they're not even anti-Walmart. They enjoy shopping there. However, not everyone sees the website as funny. Have they experienced legal issues? You'll find that out and more with today's episode.

Today's guest is Jonny Hawkins of the band Nothing More. This is a Flashback Interview to 2015 as the band is about to hit the road with Shinedown.
Hawkins talks about the decade of hard work that led up to getting signed as well as the huge sigh of relief it is to see hundreds of people at their shows.
Side note: It's so weird to hear him talk about hundreds of people at their shows when now they're playing in front of thousands and thousands.
We also talk about bucket list bands, meeting your idols, and collabs with other rockstars.
This was truly one of my favorite interviews of all-time, but not necessarily because I've known the band so long. During this interview, Jonny explains the meaning behind Nothing More's song "Jenny" being about mental illness and addiction. As someone who battles addiction, I wanted to share this for those that need it on a deeper level.

This was a ton of fun to listen to because I barely remember even interviewing Bret. That was during my really heavy drinking days, so it's good to hear this with a clear head, for once.

We got to talk about the first song he learned to play on the guitar as a child. Can you guess what it was? Here's a hint, Skynyrd.

Speaking of his childhood, he even shared what it was like being a diabetic at that age and what he and his mom did for others like him.

At the time of this interview, he had just released a covers album titled "Jammin' with Friends", so you'll hear quite a bit about that and the inspiration behind the songs he chose.

We also agreed that physical albums are incredibly important as purchases because of all the extras you get with it.

Finally, we get to hear from Bret about his Life Rocks Foundation and his love of Pittsburgh professional sports.

As we wrap up the remodeling of the Loud & Unfiltered Studios, we're giving you another flashback interview. This time, we go back to 2014 when Blue October was about to hit the road in support of their (then-new) album "Sway".

Singer Justin Furstenfeld joins me as we discuss the band's history, his sobriety, and taking the family on the road with him.

We start the interview where Justin tells us what he and the band had been up to over the previous 6-7 years since we last spoke. Justin also explains how he's able to leave the pain of his lyrics on the stage now. Speaking of being on stage, you know Blue October is one of the greatest live bands ever. Well, Justin also talks about how the band always gives 110%, on stage, because their fans are their inspiration and deserve an incredible show.

As an alcoholic, I can relate to much of what Justin has experienced throughout his life, including the joys of sobriety. Hearing him proclaim that there is a light at the end of the tunnel is just the tip of the inspiration you'll gain from Justin in this interview.

Since recording this episode Patrick and Nikkie tied the knot in Cali and then honeymooned in Hawaii. The Kennisons were gracious enough to share a few photos with us and you'll get to see those towards the end of the show.
