Here are few moisturizers which i like/recommend 🧴
Types of Moisturizers
➡️ Occlusives - Occlusives hold water, provide a thick protective barrier to prevent water loss.
Eg petrolatum, cetyl alcohol (fatty alcohol) , lanolin, lecithin, mineral oil, paraffin, stearic acid, dimethicone , cyclomethicon.
➡️ Humectants - Humectants draw water into the top layer of skin ie stratum corneum, from the dermis and to a limited extent, in humid conditions , from the air.
Eg glycerine, honey ,panthenol , sorbitol, urea.
Humectants can potentially make the skin even drier by pulling water into damaged, arid stratum corneum that doesn't hold moisturizer. So as a practical matter, they are almost always used with occlusive ingredients that trap the moisture the humectants draw into the stratum corneum.
➡️ Emollients - Emollients fill in rough gaps and make the skin feel smooth and soft but don't affect the water content. Eg octyldodecanol
When should each type be used ie the ideal skin type ?
➡️ Humectants - Oily skin.
➡️ Emollients - Normal , dry and
combination skin.
➡️ Occlusives - Dry , aging and
dehydrated skin.
Incorporating a Moisturizer into your daily skincare regime is a crucial part of maintaining healthy-looking and hydrated skin. Starting your routine with a gentle cleanser and applying a layer of Moisturizer while your skin is still moist will work to lock in the hydration and create a youthful-looking complexion.
