Gracious and Merciful Creator, in the wake of the tragic events in MSU - Marawi, we turn to you with hearts heavy with grief and aching for the families of the victims. We pray for your comforting presence to surround them, offering solace in their pain and strength in their moments of weakness. May your peace, which surpasses all understanding, be a balm to their wounded souls.

We lift up a collective plea for justice to prevail in the face of this senseless violence. Inspire leaders and authorities to work tirelessly towards accountability, transparency, and the restoration of peace. Grant them wisdom to navigate the complexities of such dark moments and guide their decisions towards justice that is fair and swift.

Lord, we beseech you to instill in the hearts of humanity a deep commitment to uphold the sanctity of life and to champion the cause of human rights. May compassion, empathy, and understanding replace hatred and violence in the narrative of our world. Strengthen our resolve to build a society where the rights and dignity of every individual are honored and protected.

In this time of mourning, let us stand united in the pursuit of a world where love triumphs over hate, and where the rights of all people are valued and respected. May your divine light guide us towards a future filled with peace, justice, and unwavering compassion. In your name, we pray. Amen.

The seminar, "Let's Talk Human Rights and Safe Space: Empowering Youth Leaders in Building Safe Spaces through Human Rights Advocacy," scheduled for December 6, 2023, holds significant importance as it addresses the critical role of the newly elected Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairs in the City Government of Digos. Hosted by the UM Digos Peace Center in collaboration with the UMDC Center for Human Rights Education, this event is a collaborative effort to empower youth leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to champion human rights and cultivate safe spaces within their communities. By bringing together these emerging leaders, the seminar aims to bridge the gap between theoretical understanding and practical application, providing them with actionable insights and strategies that will contribute to fostering a culture of respect, inclusivity, and human rights awareness.

The partnership between the UM Digos Peace Center and the UMDC Center for Human Rights Education reflects a commitment to a holistic approach in nurturing informed and socially responsible leaders. The seminar leverages the expertise of both centers to create a comprehensive learning experience, combining insights from peacebuilding and human rights education. By conducting this seminar, we aspire to catalyze a positive transformation in the youth leaders of Digos, inspiring them to become advocates for change, promoters of peace, and champions of human rights within their respective spheres of influence.

It is with deep sorrow and profound concern that the UM Digos Peace Center addresses the recent act of violence that transpired within the campus of the Mindanao State University - Main Campus today. We stand united in condemning this heinous act that has resulted in the loss of lives, injuries, and significant distress within the academic community.

The UM Digos Peace Center firmly believes in fostering an environment of safety, harmony, and academic pursuit. The senseless violence that occurred at the Mindanao State University contradicts the principles of peace, understanding, and cooperation that should prevail within our academic institutions. Along with its mandates, the Mindanao State University Main has been an iconic symbol for peace and solidarity among Muslims, Christians, and other cultural minorities in Mindanao.

We express our heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families affected by this tragic incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time. We extend our support to the Mindanao State University community as they grapple with the aftermath of this devastating event.

In times of adversity, it is crucial for us to come together as a community to support one another and stand against hate and violence. The UM Digos Peace Center reiterates its commitment to promoting dialogue, understanding, and non-violent resolution of conflicts. We call upon all members of the academic community to work collaboratively in creating an atmosphere that upholds the values of peace, respect, and unity. No cause can justify such barbaric acts of violence and bigotry against our Christian brethren, most of whom were students pursuing their education and believers that an academic institution shall be a safe space for everyone.

As we mourn the loss of lives and pray for the swift recovery of those injured, let us reaffirm our dedication to building a culture of peace within our educational institutions. The UM Digos Peace Center remains steadfast in its mission to contribute to the establishment of an environment where students, faculty, and staff can pursue knowledge and personal growth without fear of violence.

The UM Digos Peace Center stands in solidarity with the Mindanao State University community, offering our support and cooperation in any way necessary to assist in the healing process.

Let us remember that only through collective efforts and a commitment to peace can we overcome such challenges and build a brighter and more secure future for all.

Empowering IP youths in actively participating in the 2023 Barangay and SK Elections is not merely a matter of political representation but an essential step towards upholding democratic values and inclusivity. These young individuals represent a crucial demographic with unique cultural perspectives, deep connections to their communities, and a strong desire to contribute to their regions' development. By enabling their involvement in the electoral process, we ensure that their voices are heard, their needs are addressed, and their identities are respected within the broader framework of local governance.

Furthermore, promoting the participation of IP youths in the 2023 elections helps bridge historical gaps in representation and empowers these communities to have a more substantial impact on their destinies. It signifies a commitment to recognizing and preserving their distinct cultures, traditions, and ways of life, which are invaluable components of our national heritage. By engaging and empowering IP youths, we promote social cohesion and integration, fostering a sense of unity and shared responsibility within our diverse society. In doing so, we not only enrich our democracy but also lay the foundation for a more equitable and inclusive future where the rights and aspirations of all citizens, regardless of their cultural backgrounds, are respected and upheld.
