To Heard, Be Seen
To Heard, Be Seen is a platform to educate hearing individuals. I’m not claiming to be professional.
Hi, my name is Danielle and I want to start educating hearing people about deaf communities and/or help support deaf people to become more aware of any kind of support system that is out there to provide and waiting to be used. I also want to educate hearing families with deaf children, and educate them about variety of options that they either didn’t know or wasn’t provide to them about their beautiful deaf children.
Happy 28th birthday to me. I'm highly blessed to see another year of growth. I'm so excited to reveal the upcoming blessings I'll have. 🤍 My lips are sealed until then. You can take a guess

This is how my life has been lately. I have been taking so much time off social media and it is honestly refreshing to do. While doing so much time off, I realized I honestly want to share more of my journey as hard of hearing individual than to teach. Don’t get me wrong, I love teaching! I just have been doing it for so long and I honestly want to stop teaching altogether! So, Danielle’s lifestyle loading…
Landon is currently out of the town, visiting his dad for the summer. Ps: he wasn’t really drinking the waterfall. I took Maisie to the beach for the first time and she definitely didn’t like the water crashing into shore 🤣🫢 and then, me? I met someone. That’s all I’m going to say about that. 🫢 how’s everyone doing?

Riddle:
Let me know if you think I should do more to give your brain a break from learning ASL.
A man was shot to death while in his car. There were no powder marks on his clothing, which indicated that the gunman was outside the car. However, all the windows were up and the doors locked. After a close inspection was made, the only bullet holes discovered were on the man’s body. How was he murdered?

Hello , I know it's late, but I'm curious to know if there are any signs that you don't understand why it's signed that way or if you want to know how it was invented. Please drop your responses below!
Good morning, !!
Today I want to talk to you about ASL sentence structures and why it is so different from English sentence structures. Let me friendly remind everyone that ASL and English have VERY different rules of sentence structures. VERY DIFFERENT. In ASL, everything we say would be in different ways we can understand in sign language.
Here are a few of them I would love to discuss with you.
The very basic ASL structure is TOPIC-COMMENT. This means that the central information -- the thing you're about to talk about -- goes first in the sentence. Once you've identified the topic, then you make a comment or ask a question. It is a great way to get started on understanding ASL structure. But do NOT FORGET the facial expressions!!! it is always so important in ASL.
For example:
1. I like ice cream.
In the ASL version, " Ice cream, I like" with a nod at the end.
2. My sister gave me her book.
In the ASL version, "my sister, her book, she gives me."
Yes or No Questions
For questions that expect an answer of yes, no, or maybe, the signs and word order stays the same as regular sentences. ASL does not add words like "Do." or "Are" or "Can" to questions. Instead, simply sign the sentence as if it were a statement, but use your facial expression to change it to a question:
- Raise the eyebrows (think: a "surprised" look)
-Lean forward
- Hold the last sign
For example:
1. Is she happy?
In the ASL version, "happy she?"
2. Can I help you?
In the ASL version, "you, I help?"
Wh- Questions
For questions that require an answer beyond yes or no -- think who, what, where, when, why, how -- the facial expression changes. As a general rule, put the question word last in the sentence, and use the following facial expression:
Furrow (lower) your eyebrows (think: a "confused" look)
Lean forward
Hold the last sign (the question word)
For example:
1. Where do you want to eat?
In the ASL version, "you want eat, where?" eyebrows down at "where" and hold sign where
2. When is your birthday?
In the ASL version, "your birthday, when?" same as number one.
Here are some GREAT TIPS!
1. When you sign she or he, make sure you point to the space next to you or the person you were referring to at the moment.
2. Many verbs in ASL are directional. These are transitive verbs, meaning there's an action performed and there is an object to the action. As a result, ASL makes use of space to indicate who is involved in the action. For example, above we used the example GIVE. The verb "give" has a subject (the giver) and an object (the recipient). As a result, we don't need to separately sign "SHE" or "ME" or the names of people involved. The sign GIVE includes this information.
3. In ASL, verbs are not modified based on tense. In other words, there's no difference between the past, present, and future versions of the word "go", for example. The English words "go", "went", "going", and "will go" would all generally translate the same way. So how do we know what tense someone is using? In ASL, tense is established by stating the time/tense at the beginning of the sentence or story. Once a time is established (such as "Last night...", "Next month...", or "In 2012..."), the tense persists until a new tense is established.
4. Always include facial expressions when you're communicating with a deaf individual. Failing to do this can impact your communication with them. Things can be very easily misunderstood with a lack of facial expressions.
GOOD LUCK!

Ain’t that the truth!😂
