🏳️🌈HAPPY NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY from your local bisexual podcast host!🏳️🌈⠀
⠀
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜⠀
⠀
As many others have (or should) point out: do NOT feel pressured to come out today if you are not ready. For some, this day provides an opportunity and permission to have conversations that they previously haven't felt comfortable having. But none of us are required to come out. To anyone. Be wherever you are. If that's out, great. If that's not, I hope that you're doing alright and please know that I see you. ⠀
⠀
You are valid and worthy and special and wonderful whether or not you are out.⠀
⠀
However, If you ARE out OR if you want a subtle way to signal your identity(s) and you're a scientist, you can celebrate your PRIDE with the Dear Grad Student LGBTQIA+ "scientist" merch at: deargradstudent.com/lgbtqia⠀
⠀
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜⠀
⠀

⠀
It was only over this past year that my PMDD was bad again. And it took SO long for me to talk to my doctor about it. And to try medication. That was one of the scariest days of my life. I have a lot of anxiety over taking new medicine -- it took me until I was 18 to use *Tylenol* for the first time. The day I tried Sertraline for the first time, I cried for 6 straight hours before swallowing that tiny, blue pill.⠀
⠀
We are only just learning why Sertraline helps with PMDD, but wow, it does. I don't have depression. I don't have anxiety. But the two weeks leading up to my period, it feels like my life is ending. It is unbearable for me and those around me, particularly my partner. He is the most understanding, patient person I know. And he is a huge reason why I was comfortable talking to my doctor.⠀
⠀
Any now...relief. I feel like myself again. I feel like life is predictable in a good way, not a bad way. Medication saved my life and relationship and I am so grateful.⠀
⠀
So, on , I'm here to say that if you have PMDD or other mental health stuff going on: I see you. I believe you. I love you. You are so strong and I am so proud of you.⠀
⠀
