It’s been a great week with our regular programmed social groups we are exploring social situations and building our independence and decision making. We have had a boost in our conversation bank and building our capacity to independently make our own choices on what the group will have for dinner. Along with helping prepare the meals the clients have had input into what our group will do moving forward. Ian and Lindy have done some preparation for new activities and places we can visit so keep an eye out for what’s to come.

Reminder: We’re all doing the best we can with what we have. And you know what? That is enough!

Keep going, keep trying, and don’t forget to give yourself some grace along the way. YOU are enough!

Beautiful activity for today, next weekend, or any time.
Sometimes kids take things for granted and it's nice to help them feel .

Is a dying skill? Is everyone just too busy? Too self absorbed? In too much of a hurry?
More and more often we’re noticing that people are not getting the message, whatever it may be.
This infographic helps folk to be better listeners, we wonder whether the ‘speaker’ can do anything to help in certain situations? (Maybe *be brief *stick to topic ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ - any others?)

It’s been a fun filled week at D12 not only have we done our regular shift like transport and community access. We popped up to the Dandenongs for some scones at miss marples, we explored Philip island on an STA weekend, we went and saw some Silo art, and invested other options for sta weekend, we did some bird watching, tried gold class for the first time and we picked up the new D12 car so we can do more group outings.

It’s been a fun time with clients trying new things and exploring. We have done some cooking and made unicorn poo meringues, we have been out and explored the shops, we have done sewing making costumes for a Disneyland trip, we have been to watch the football, we got to try driving in a closed circuit at metec, we have done airport pickups, we have been out to see live music, had fun gaming and much more. Poor Obie isn’t enjoying the wet cold weather as he can’t get out to visit everyone as much so he has had time at home and even watch lady and the tramp which he loves.

We visited the queen Victoria night market. It was a bit crowded but a fantastic way to taste new foods and see the fun entertainment

This week we went from Celebrating our amazing worker Megs 21st birthday to the lume exploring De Vinci art, then off to Artvo the next day where clients got to immerse themselves into the pictures, we saw the house down under. Followed by some glow in the dark mini golf. by Thursday we had our regular dinner/games program running and we took other clients to see lightscape at the royal botanic gardens which was an amazing experience I couldn’t recommend it highly enough (and I want to go again), with overnight support in place to catch an early flight, onto firelight at marvel stadium. We love that we are able to off these awesome experiences to our clients and support them in the ways that they need support.

What a busy few weeks we have had especially with the start of school holidays so there will be lots of photos coming your way.
Well in the last month while everyone else was here working Lindy went to the USA and worked with some of our awesome friends learning lots of new things. I got to meet up with With Love, Me Kris and the amazing service dog Koda the opportunity to watch them work together was fantastic, I also got to explore Washington and squeezed in a trip to do Disneyland I got to see the park in a completely new way and how the DAS pass works for different people and the way that the cast members accomodate everyone especially special needs. This will be so valuable with our future trips with clients.
