Is Epic the right word? It is the closest one that I have at present. Quite a journey indeed. Aiming to capture a sojourn in 10 pictures is certainly a feat. Ghana, 2023, the people, the places, and the things. All the beautiful souls that made it flow. Words don’t do it justice here. Thankful to share the journey with my Nussiat, my homegirl and her son Thor. Oh the things we have seen. Being in the space with Black Women comics - meeting not one, but two Naija 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬 women comics💕💕. My pain (in humorous form) being a balm to others - including myself. There really are no words. Here’s to finding your voice amongst the madness. Loving where I am in this moment. Can’t f*x with me - no matter how hard they try💕 Keep it light and carefree folks. All dem stay in my prayers (cause their laughter usually marks pain - our personalities have a history). 💕

What a special day! The epitome of the meaning of Omuwa Luxe, as we are children of blessings and riches who deserve to live well. Just a joy and an honor to be a part of my homegirls 40th birthday kickoff in the borough that is our home, Brooklyn! This was a low-key beautiful affair, where our mothers/mother figures joined us, so that they could pour their wisdom into my Sister as she enters this new chapter. Our mothers, these powerful immigrant 🇬🇾🇳🇬women, who lived lives that would probably break most of us, are the original OG’s. It is nothing for us new age Iadies to seek out these outings, it’s become a part of our routines. However, it is these women who need to indulge and luxuriate routinely, and they usually never do. It was wonderful to see our mothers enjoy themselves - especially the original Omuwa, my mummy! Honored to be in their presence!💕💕💕💕

During this Women's History Month, I shout out all Black Women 🧔🏿‍♀️ whose mere presence is revolutionary - particularly in corporate spaces. I am reminded that we have the capacity to expand beyond the "comfortable" (comfortable for others) boundaries ☐ generally allowed for us. Those boundaries are ones that require us to pretzel 🥨 ourselves into unrecognizable shapes in order to be thought well of in certain spaces.

The journey for me to un-pretzel (I continue to do so!) has been transformational, joyous,💖 painful, and, eye-opening. I would not trade it for anything. For anyone who needed a reminder, Sis, you are limitless! Show us what's hiding behind those degrees and beneath that structured navy blue pin stripe suit 🕴🏿 (I'm dying to know!).

One of the underlying tenets of The Black Woman Liberation Formula is preserving our energies for people and things that uplift and elevate us - not deplete and drain us. One of the biggest obstacles holding many of us back are the energy vampires 🧛🏿‍♂️ we keep around because we feel obligated to do so. Trust and believe you are not obligated. You cannot soar with those eagles 🦅 - the eagles God has already ordained for you to meet, when you’ve spent all your energies on chickens 🐔.

When your ancestors make you walk into stores and buy hoodies.

Now the proud owner of two pieces! Received “I am the Universe” yesterday and this clearly belongs to me. Getting this piece is a great example of why it is important that Black artists have opportunities to collaborate with large brands. I got my first at in New Jersey. I’ve talked ad nauseum about the proliferation/new availability of Black Art post George Floyd (people have to die on the TV for visions of our Beauty to be commercialized - different conversation). Nevertheless, Home Sense brought me . I purchased it at the “Home Sense price.” I followed on the Instagrams, and was able to buy this piece directly from her at the price. 💕💕 I am the Universe certainly, and captured it perfectly.
