Staying safe by self isolating, strange times, but better safe than sorry. Its been a while but with my fourth time in hospital this year, I’ve not had too much time for blogging yet, so while I have the chance, lets do it. The last two times in hospital have been b…

The man whispered, “God, speak to me.” And a meadowlark sang.
But, the man did not hear.
Then the man yelled “God, speak to me.” Thunder rolled across the sky.
But, the man did not listen.
The man looked around and said, “God, let me see you.” And the stars shined brightly.
But the man did not notice.
And, the man shouted, “God, show me a miracle.”
And, a life was born.
But the man did not know.
So, the man cried out in despair, “Touch me God, and let me know you are here.”
Whereupon, God reached down and touched the man.
But, the man brushed the butterfly away and walked on.
So remember, don’t miss out on a blessing because it isn’t packaged the way that you expect.
Take notice of the blessings around you..

Hi! I’m Anikka! I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer at the age of 33. I had 18 months of treatment and 3 operations during which I was sent lots of lovely bunches of flowers from well-wishers.
It was obviously wonderful knowing I had such strong support behind me, but I never actually got to see many of them. Most people don’t realise that many hospitals do not allow flowers onto the wards due to risk of infection and allergies. It was such a waste.
I wasn’t working during my treatment and needed a distraction from the constant hospital appointments. I realised there was a gap in the market for gifts that could be used during cancer treatment and welcomed on hospital wards. So I set about creating an e-commerce gifting website with a personal touch.
In 2013 (www.notanotherbunchofflowers.com) was born!
We still specialise in get well, hospital and cancer gifts and offer appropriate cards and a bespoke gift subscription to coincide with treatment. We have also become more of a lifestyle gift-giving brand for all occasions.
I have also used the business to donate over £25,000 to charities close to my heart in recognition of the support I received during my treatment and diagnosis.
I am still NED (touch wood!) and despite having had tests that indicated that my treatment had left me infertile, I was lucky and had a baby 3 years ago. I feel incredibly blessed to be a mother and very proud to be a working mother who has built a business that is not only successful but has a real purpose.
I am so privileged that I can use my experience to help others and offer advice and support on a daily basis.
oh hell yeah!!! cancer has no idea of the strength and fury I have to get rid of it, with so much support from my family and friends, it doesn't stand a chance!!! 😊👍❤👊 # #

“In February 2018, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. My mum died when I was 21 from the same thing, so I was petrified that I wouldn’t be here for my six-year-old son. I had 16 rounds of chemotherapy, five surgeries and a bilateral mastectomy. Treatment was hard and I suffered a lot from side effects, infections and low blood levels. However, I now have no evidence of disease! Now, I’m looking forward to a future with my husband and son, who have supported me throughout. I will be forever thankful to the NHS and my local Breast Care Unit, who have been fantastic. I feel very lucky we have the NHS - they saved my life.” This is Cancer Right Now for Andrea. “Cancer can put you in a very dark place, and only people who’ve gone through the same experience can feel that way.” Mum-of-two, Helen, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, shortly after a friend of hers had been diagnosed with the same cancer. “My friend was the same age as me, and I thought I should check my body too. I found a lump, and my heart sank.” Helen underwent two lumpectomies and a round of radiotherapy. When she was discharged, she struggled with the mental impact of cancer. “What I would say to others going through the same thing, is don’t underestimate how it mentally affects you. It’s not whilst you’re going through treatment, it’s after. Don’t hesitate to seek help.” Now, Helen has been given the all-clear! This World Cancer Day, we’re showing support for people like Helen. I'm just over six months into my current fundraising challenge a year of no added sugar and no booze. Anytime I cheat it's a £20 penalty into the fundraising pot which I've happily paid, usually when eating out as it's a very difficult request.
This year's challenge is so much harder than last year's CrossFit fundraiser. It's so much work having to check every label and ultimately make just about everything from scratch. Sugar is everywhere and in everything.
At times I'm finding it downright frustrating, but I'm a stubborn person and more importantly I believe that anything I can do help take another step towards helping finding a cure for Cowden syndrome not just for daughter but for all sufferers is worth it.
Let's be honest the annoyance I'm facing is laughable in the face of the trials during the lifetime of a Cowdens sufferer, constant checks, cancer that can occur anywhere, benign tumours anywhere, major preventative surgeries. Can you imagine what it's like at 15 to be planning your double mastectomy? That's the reality my daughter is living.
Please, share this post and if you can donate a few quid. Any amount helps. Let's find a

Hello! I'm Vicky aka Gammy Tit and joint founder of TCB. Alongside my husband Chris, we run Bethnal&Bec - Luxury Rural Retreats in Hertfordshire
Chris and I met online 6 years ago and in bringing our families together we decided we wanted to move to the countryside and start a business together too.
We were both getting tired of the commute to London and managing childcare. With 4 children we wanted to prioritise family time together too. We bought our house with the main aim of converting the existing outbuildings into luxury holiday lets that we would want to stay in ourselves!
We named the business after the two areas of London we both lived in: Tooting Bec & Bethnal Green
The unique part of our business is the comfort and design. We wanted to create a self catering space that you could immediately relax in. Technology, comfort and style. We've been open just over 2 year and have won numerous awards and have fabulous reviews. We're very proud!
Last year during my treatment for Triple Negative Breast Cancer it was tricky to juggle everything! Chris and I had always completed the cleans and are sticklers for details. Finding the time, energy and capacity to continue the business was extremely challenging at times!
One of our rewards though was realising how incredibly beneficial a 'break' is in the storm that is cancer. So we now offer discounts now to anyone affected by cancer directly, plus anyone working for the NHS, a care home, hospice or in any palliative/ respite care capacity. We also gift stays to cancer charities and fundraise through bookings for other cancer charities (such as the incredible charity )
In a small way we hope we “pay it forward” to those working in cancer care, on their journey or somehow affected by this brutal disease.
And of course TCBers get a discount too! 15% discount when you use code TCB15
Head to our website for pricing, availability and to book www.bethnalandbec.com
We hope to welcome you soon!
♥️
I totally agree. You are a beautiful little girl 💖😍
