Google ads 🔑

📈If there is already a high demand for a product and low competition on google, you can get some insane conversion rates. People are already convinced that they want to buy. They just need to be shown a trusted brand with lots of social proof.

Top 5 lessons I’ve learned from eCommerce in the past 5+ years

✅ Sell something you’re passionate about

If you sell whatever you think will just make you money, you’ll burn out fast. In addition, if you are passionate about something, you will likely know much more about the market than the average consumer. It will give you a statistical edge over others.

✅ Don’t rely on one source of traffic

I’ve had many times where I bought $10-$20k of inventory relying on one source of traffic only to have it be cut off and stuck with everything. I lost momentum so many times by doing this. Before ordering a huge shipment, make sure you have 3+ sources of traffic that are consistent.

✅ Content content content

The main way to create a “moat” around your brand/product is to have the best content. The only way to get there is repetition. Put out as much content as you can and it will get better over time. Don’t be a perfectionist. Set a posting schedule and stick to it.

✅ Hire or get help from specialists as soon as you can afford it

Most people in eCommerce starting off alone are a jack of all trades or a generalist. You have a decent understanding of everything and maybe specialize in a few areas like Facebook ads or influencer marketing. I’n order to get to 7-8+ figures, you need to hire a team that will be able to maximize the ROI in every sector. Maybe you don’t need to hire people necessarily, but get mentored or advice from the experts.

✅ Reoccurring customers is 🔑

The only way to win in the long run with paid ads is to build up a brand and have customers that keep coming back. You can’t rely on cold traffic and one time purchases.

All the ad platforms work like a bidding war. The people that are able to spend the most to acquire a new customer will win.

Life hack 🔨

Something that’s helped increase my conversion rate is looking at the most common questions people are commenting on my ads and creating an faq for them 🙂

You’d think a lot of these questions would be common sense but you’d be surprised 🫠

I see a lot of brands leave a TON of money on the table by not analyzing their abandon carts. This is going to be by FAR your warmest traffic since they were already on the verge of purchasing.

Here are 3 things you can do

1. Break down and analyze what is stopping people from purchasing on your site.

2. Setup a simple email/sms sequence

3. Retarget with social proof (reviews/testimonials) + give a small discount code to invoke a sense of urgency.

Plain and simple 🙂

Consumers don’t trust sponsorships nearly as much as they trust UGC content anymore.

There have been too many “influencers” over the years that have partnered up with brands and products that they themselves don’t even believe in just to secure their 💰

The Plateau of Latent Potency

“We often expect progress to be linear. At the very least, we hope it will come quickly. In reality, the results of our efforts are often delayed. It is not until months or years later that we realize the true value of the previous work we have done. This can result in a "valley of disappointment" where people feel discouraged after putting in weeks or months of hard work without experiencing any results. However, this work was not wasted. It was simply being stored. It is not until much later that the full value of previous efforts is revealed” (Atomic Habits Page 22)

Wishful thinking without action is just wishful thinking.

My dad told me about OATS a few years ago which has helped me out a lot in life.

It all starts with an objective. What are my goals? Let’s say my goal is to become a YouTuber. How do I get there? This is how I try and break down my goals ⬇️

Objective: Be a YouTuber

Action: I need to post videos

Timetable: I’m going to post once a week

Schedule: I’m going to go to the cafe on 17th street every Monday from 5-8pm to plan out my video of the week.

The more you break down your goal the more likely you are to follow through. The more you break it down the easier it is to execute.

More planning = less ex*****on.

My whole life up until recently I’ve had a problem with losing my belongings. My keys, wallet, water bottle, AirPods etc.

Before, I’d always complain about how unlucky I was or get upset on why I could never find my AirPods or other belongings. I went through like 6 AirPods before I realized I was the problem 😂

After realizing, I started having designated spots for where I put my keys, I bought a shoulder bag to keep my wallet and AirPods in, and just like that I magically stopped misplacing my belongings. I still struggle but not nearly as bad now🤙

Application: With e-commerce or business in general all you’re doing is putting out fires. You’re finding the problems and fixing them.

I’ve had 6 business managers banned on Facebook. That’s 6 different times I had to ask a family member or friend to have full access to their Facebook account so that I could runs ads through it 🥶

I’ve learned now that Facebook doesn’t just randomly ban people 99% of the time. If you comply to their terms and don’t have 2 month long shipping you won’t get banned. Simple.

Once I stopped complaining and thinking “why me?” and started to make actual changes to maintain a good feedback score with my ad accounts and pages, I stopped getting banned 😎

✅ Sell a product that you are proud of or that people NEED

Over the years I've sold hundreds of products in a variety of different niches.
The products/brands that tended to do best were the ones I actually cared about and was PROUD of.

Example: If a salesman comes knocking on your door to sell you a product/service, you can see right through them whether they believe in the product or not.

Instead of thinking, “how can I make money?” Think, “what could I sell that people would LOVE or that they NEED.”

Before even setting up your website or creating ads, order the product on amazon or from a supplier and ask all your friends and family if they would buy it. Ask them how much would they would be willing to pay for it. You’ll save yourself a lot of time and money.
