I remember struggling with long division at school and thought this might come in handy.

https://www.teknojelly.com/…/mat…/interactive-long-division/

The Interactive Long Division page will walk you through each step of the process, from how many dividend digits to use for any given divisor to bringing down and working with remainders. There are two main options, a question can be randomly generated based on the input or a specific problem can be entered.
Enjoy 😉

At the smallest scale in a computer, information is stored as bits. A bit can be either a 0 or 1 where 0 is off and 1 is on. In the computer everything from numbers and letters to pictures and movies is made up of bits. In a chip an on or off electric charge represents the state of a bit. If the charge is on the bit is a 1, if the charge is off the bit is a 0. In a hard drive spots of magnetism represent the state of a bit. If the spot has a north magnetism the bit is a 0 and if the spot has as south magnetism the bit is a 1. A bit is too small to be much use so a group of 8 bits together is used to represent things like letters and numbers, the group of 8 bits is a byte.
Look at the number 1 in the table, the first 4 bits are 0011 which specify a number or a punctuation character, the last 4 bits specify which number it is and for the number 1 the last 4 bits are 0001, only the last bit is on. Now look at the Bit Values in a Byte table and you can see that each bit from 7 to 0 has a value associated with it. Look at bit 0, the bit furthest to the right, and you can see it’s value is 1, that means if that bit is on it’s value is 1, if we add up the values of the bits that are on in that group of 4 we get off + off + off + 1 which equals 1 and that sets ....

A nice little primer on Algebra with one unknown.

An Algebra quiz is now available at https://www.teknojelly.com/redhotalgebraoned

It is a gentle introduction to Algebra with one unknown. With basic arithmetic when asked to fill in the blank for
2 + __ = 1 * 5 we can easily work out the answer is 3.
By extending that basic logic we can work out some pretty cool problems. There is a nice explanation on the first page and detailed explanations on the results page.

We threw in a couple of word problems as an extra challenge.

Take math quizzes, collect the clues and crack the code to access MindLocker and receive 50 bonus points.

gniruT is a web application that creates math questions and answers.

The engine generates questions across 50 subjects from arithmetic to calculus. The quizzes range in difficulty and are focussed on primary school subjects but some of the questions are tough and may need some explanation from a teacher or parent or maybe even Google.

Students and teachers are able to choose one of the two options; personally curated multiple choice questions or custom questions and answers generated by gniruT. You and your students can take a quiz right now. To start, log in and choose your preferred difficulty level (practice, spicy, red hot or brain buster), select a subject and click on the start button to begin. View your results on the progress page and rise to the top of the leaderboard.

15/01/2020

The leaderboard on the https://www.teknojelly.com home page shows individual and country ratings, which country a player plays for is set on their Profile page. The leaderboard uses an Elo rating system where the player and country ratings are represented by a number which may change depending on quiz results.

If a player beats gniruT at a quiz the win counts towards the individual and country ratings, if a player does not beat gniruT the attempt is also counted. gniruT@alpha is the ai that players play against in the quizzes and gniruT@Team is the ai that countries are rated against.

After every quiz, the winning player or ai takes points from the losing one and if you would like to get into the detail and see how the algorithm works check out the post in the Forum at https://forum.teknojelly.com/t/gnirut-leaderboard/59

Because gniruT questions have been generated by a computer they explore the entire available number space. The models operate with variable boundaries and every point inside that created space has a variable entropy. So what that means is it will fully explore that little universe, every range, border case and edge boundary without bias to generate the questions and answers. Because of this, the models generate some really interesting questions which force us to think more deeply about what is being asked and gives students a taste of the intellectual adventure that mathematics can be.

The questions go deeper than what is normally taught in the classroom for any given age group and promote mathematical thinking to solve the problems.

What is gniruT? Quiet simply it is a program that generates math question answer pairs.

Most school math curriculums are a mile wide and about an inch deep. Because gniruT questions have been generated by a computer they explore the entire available number space.

The models operate with variable boundaries and every point inside that space has a variable entropy. So what that means is it will probe the entire space, every range in that space, border cases and edge boundaries without bias to generate the questions and answers.

We have changed up the gniruT Ladder to normalise the scores. You will probably notice the harder categories with lower scores towards the top of the table.

Red text is the Red Hot category
Orange text is the Spicy category
Green text is the Practice category

Google have released the code that was used to generate math questions to train DeepMind, their most advanced artificial intelligence program. The code generates questions that are similar to those typically found in schools in the UK, such as algebra, arithmetic, measurement and calculus.

Using this code we have created models to generate quizzes by curriculum and difficulty.

The quizzes are free and open to anyone but you will need to register.
